Tabac Blanc (2022) by Caron я заказала из спортивного интереса: проверить, настолько ли он плох, как сообщалось на Фрагрантике. И – да, это не самый понятный парфюм не просто истории Caron, но и автора Жана Жака. Свежесть и белизна аромата скрывают серьезные древесные и даже анималистичные аспекты его базы. И пусть заявленные в описании какао, ваниль и корица не сбивают вас с толку – парфюм не про пупсиков и не про кухню, – хотя мате и появляющиеся позже пряники здесь заметны.

Мне стало интересно, что же это за табак без табака, полученный объединением мате, какао и корня ириса. И листья табака узнаются – среди металла, сена и белых крахмальных шариков. А если приглядеться – то и среди лепестков жасмина и ириса. Наверное, такой и является Южная Америка: солнечной, цветущей, ароматной и специфически гурманской.

Вся сияющая конструкция Tabac Blanc держится на прочном, светлом и приятном обонянию и “глазу” дереве с оттенками черешни и вишни. И вместе с партнерской программой орриса и сладких пряностей эта работа Жана Жака служит мне своеобразным утешением от невозможности добыть сразу два желаемые парижские бутиковые парфюма от Guerlain: Oud Nude (2022) и Iris Pallida Extrait 6 (2023).

The shadow of tobacco and gingerbread

I ordered Tabac Blanc (2022) by Caron just for fun: to check if it is as bad as reported on Fragrantica. And – yes, this is not the most understandable perfume not only of the brand’s history, but also of its author Jean Jacques. The freshness and whiteness of the scent hide serious woody and even animalistic details of its base. And let the cocoa, vanilla and cinnamon declared in the description not confuse you – the perfume is not about babies or the kitchen – although mate tea and the gingerbread that appears later are noticeable.

I was curious what kind of tobacco without tobacco is this, obtained by combining mate, cocoa and orris. And tobacco leaves are recognizable – among metal, hay and white starch balls. And if you look closely – among the petals of jasmine and iris as well. This is probably what South America is: sunny, blooming, aromatic and specifically gourmet.

The entire shining structure of Tabac Blanc rests on a solid, light and pleasant to the nose and “eye” wood with shades of cherry and sour cherry. And together with the partnership program of orris and sweet spices, this work of Jean Jacques serves me as a kind of consolation from the impossibility of getting two desired Parisian boutique perfumes of Guerlain at once: Oud Nude (2022) and Iris Pallida Extrait 6 (2023).

Последний аромат от Jean-Michel Duriez W/oud rose может показаться чуть более объемным, чем вмещает обычная городская квартира, но будет наверняка хорош в каких-то иных обстоятельствах. Я бы сказала, парфюм создан для вечеринок и дискотек на юге, мест, куда мы ходим за новыми и яркими эмоциями.

Сам аромат составлен из простых, но всеми любимых вещей: розы и груши, розы и малина, розы и виноградная пастила. С шафрановой пылью, на деревянных островках, с душевными вкраплениями ириса. Сама роза здесь нежная, слегка фруктовая и гурманская, и те, кто любил и носил Enjoy by Jean Patou, могут присмотреться, не заменит ли (или дополнит) W/oud rose его в каком-то смысле. Для меня эти парфюмы роднит не только авторство Жан-Мишеля Дюрье и красавица-роза, но и общее “отпускное” впечатление, хотя новинка Дюрье гораздо более мультигендерная. Древесина, на которой появляются цветы и фрукты, всё-таки специевая, ладанная и собранная с намеком на удовое дерево. Есть тут какой-то отсыл к пиратской, разбойничьей теме, а также к темному времени суток и замшевым деталям. Ну и ощутимый металлический аккорд шафрана и мускуса делает W/oud rose мощным ольфакторным оружием.

An excuse for a party

The latest fragrance from Jean-Michel Duriez W/oud rose may seem a little bigger than the usual city apartment can accommodate, but it will certainly be good in some other contexts. I would say that the perfume was created for parties and discos in the south, places where we go for new vivid emotions.

The fragrance is made up of simple but beloved things: roses and pears, roses and raspberries, roses and grape marshmallow. With saffron dust, on wooden islands, with soulful splashes of iris. The rose itself is delicate, slightly fruity and gourmet, and those who loved and wore Enjoy by Jean Patou may take a closer look if W/oud rose will replace (or complement) it in some sense. For me, these perfumes are not only related by the authorship of Jean-Michel Duriez and the beautiful rose, but also by the general “holiday” impression, although Duriez’ novelty is much more multi-gender. The wood on which the flowers and fruits appear is still spicy, incense and collected with a hint of an oud wood. There is some reference to the pirate, bandit theme here, as well as to the dark time of the day and suede details. And furthermore, the sizeable metal accord of saffron and musk makes W/oud rose a powerful olfactory weapon.

Парфюм Une Amourette by Etat Libre d’Orange сделан по типу три в одном. Он плавно проводит в жизнь цветочную, гурманскую и древесную части – особенно, если кожа не может похвастаться раскрытием аромата быстро. В этом же случае получится рассмотреть детали, не окунаясь в омут с головой.

Une Amourette не совсем логично объединяет бодрый апельсиновый цвет с вареньем, взбитым кремом и “деревом”. Но симметрия и классические сочетания уже давно не актуальны, верно? Вместо бесхитростного дерева будем разглядывать фантастический сплав опилок, телесной и “больничной” частей уда, осколков стекла и почек вербы с легкими алкогольными нюансами.

Если же раскрытие пойдет живее, желательно крепко придерживать шляпу и поберечь голову. Une Amourette попытается расшатать и снести в сторону.

Perfume Une Amourette by Etat Libre d’Orange is made in 3-in-1 style. It smoothly enforces the floral, gourmet and woody parts – especially if your skin cannot boast of revealing the fragrance quickly. In this case it will be possible to consider the details without haste.

Une Amourette combines a vigorous orange blossom with jam, whipped cream and “wood.” This is not a particularly logical, but symmetry and classical combinations are out of date, right? Instead of a simple wood, we will be looking at fantastic alloy of sawdust, bodily and “hospital” parts of oud, glass fragments and willow buds with light alcoholic nuances.

However if the disclosure goes more lively, you need to take it easy. Une Amourette will try to shatter your nerves and take you anywhere.

С лимиткой So Pretty Sirop des Bois (2000й год издания) by Cartier нас ждет проверка. Сахаром, мылом и порошком. Все очень терпимо, в меру. Ягодный сироп вначале взаимодействует с бархатной розой, позже – с абстрактным деревом, показывая гурманские детали: пастилу, кофейные и ореховые оттенки. Мускусы образуют пену. Аромат неторопливо движется к сандаловому крему.

Sirop des Bois – какой-то мостик между прошлым и настоящим, девушкой и женщиной. Есть у него и точка пересечения с Yuzu Man Caron – и компонентами, и настроением. Издания, предлагающие не быть чересчур серьезными.

Life’s a real picnic

With a limited edition launched in 2000 So Pretty Sirop des Bois by Cartier we have a check. Do we accept sugar, soap and powder? Everything is very tolerable, moderately here. Berry syrup firstly works with a velvet rose, later with a wood, showing gourmet details: pastille, coffee and nut shades. The musks produce a foam. The fragrance slowly moves to sandalwood cream.

Sirop des Bois is a kind of bridge between the past and the present, a girl and a woman. It also has a point of intersection with Yuzu Man Caron – both components and mood. These issues suggest us do not be too serious.

Rahele by Neela Vermeire Creations – это и правда путешествие. От первых ярких цветочных парфюмов Нилы с красивыми специями и фруктовыми нюансами к … абстрактной летающей тарелке, изображенной кожаной базой и листьями фиалки. В иную погоду рисовать ее будут буквально грифелем – и подсвечивать орбиту мелкими цветками ириса.

Ближайшая сестричка Rahele – Mohur, те же корица и кардамон, спокойный и радостный османтус. Воск и охлаждающее манго. И трогательная песнь розы и жасмина. Но чем дольше парфюм живет на коже, тем больше кажется космическим и инопланетным (хотя и Mohur удивлял неоновым светом розы). Rahele можно представить россыпью мелких звездочек на кусочках несладкой пастилы – приятно пахнущий “индийский” бальзам от Бертрана Дюшофура.

Follow its path

Rahele by Neela Vermeire Creations is a true journey. From the first bright floral Neela’ perfumes with beautiful spices and fruit nuances to … an abstract flying saucer depicted by a leather base and violet leaves. Occasionally you even can imagine it was drawn with slate pencil – and small iris flowers illuminated the orbit.

The close sister of Rahele is Mohur, the same cinnamon and cardamom, a calm and joyful osmanthus here. Wax and cooling mango. And a touching song of rose and jasmine. But the longer the perfume lives on the skin, the more it seems cosmic and extraterrestrial (although Mohur surprised with the neon light of the rose). Rahele can be described as scattering of small stars on pieces of unsweetened pastille – a pleasantly smelling “Indian” balm by Bertrand Duchaufour.

С наступлением холодов Fugit Amor Jul et Mad все больше теряет прозрачность хрусталя и обретает телесные очертания. Парфюм и глубокой осенью демонстрирует красивые игрушечные специи, но теперь цветки гвоздики получили настолько медитативное окружение, что хочется перенестись мыслями к памятнику вечной Славы на могиле Неизвестного солдата. Благородно – и это запомнится.

Посвященный одноименной скульптуре Родена, Fugit Amor приглашает увидеть контраст между плотностью мрамора и изящной работой мастера. Парфюм Fugit Amor звучит как песня. Как вальс в исполнении военного оркестра. Пылинки звезд, пудра, древесно-мускусный воздух. И долгое эхо друг друга.

Crystal clear

With the onset of cold weather, Fugit Amor by Jul and Mad increasingly loses the transparency of crystal and gains bodily outlines. Lately perfume shows beautiful toy spices also, but now carnation has received such a meditative environment that you want to transfer your thoughts to the monument of eternal Glory at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It is noble – and it will be remembered.

Dedicated to same name Rodin’ sculpture, Fugit Amor invites us to see the contrast between the density of marble and the elegant work of the master. Perfume Fugit Amor sounds like a song. Like a waltz performed by a military band. Dust of stars, powder, woody-musky air. And a long echo of each other.

По легенде, парфюм Bosque by Humiecki & Graef посвящен состоянию удовлетворения. Но я бы предложила не верить иллюстрациям полуобнаженных тел. Bosque – скорее, об удовлетворенности, чем об удовлотворении. Хотя бы потому, что нет в нем ничего плотского. Есть нарциссовый жирок, да, но никаких тайных смыслов (или воспоминаний?). Bosque служит полупрозрычным коконом из ветиверовой и обычной зеленой травы, нарциссовой пудры с шафраном и капельками грейпфрутового сока. В тот момент, когда прислушиваешься к нему, веришь, что можно жить c этим, но спустя время от слабого темпа изменений начинаешь уставать.

Я скажу больше, если нет готовности рассматривать Bosque как оригинальный мультигендерный аксессуар, он заберет все остатки удовлетворения. Можно носить его неделями, а спустя время так же долго не понимать, чем он понравился раньше. Однако, если повезет с погодой и настроением – радуешься его веселому старту, мнимому абсенту, наглому нарциссу и толерантности к чему-то иному.

A look of contentment

According to legend, the perfume Bosque by Humiecki & Graef is dedicated to the unique moment of contentment. But I would suggest do not believe the illustrations of half-naked bodies, because there is no carnal thing in the fragrance. Yes, you will find narcissus here, but no secret meaning (or memories?). Bosque acts as a translucent cocoon of vetiver and green grass, narcissus powder with saffron and droplets of grapefruit juice. The minute you listen to it, yes, you agree to live with it, but after a while you start to get tired from the weak rate of change.

I will say more, if there is no readiness to treat Bosque as an original multigender accessory, it will take away remaining of satisfaction. You can wear it for weeks, and after a while do not understand what you liked before. However, if you’re lucky with the weather and the mood – rejoice its fun start, imaginary absinthe, impudent narcissus and tolerance for something else.

Автора парфюма Liwa из новой “бархатной” коллекции Widian вдохновил одноименный оазис в Абу-Даби. В то же время, на мой взгляд, сам аромат отражает, скорее, движение к этому островку счастья.

Liwa можно представить отполированным кусочком вишневого дерева, который покрыли жасминовой пудрой, дали поразглядывать, а затем подожгли и оставили тлеть. Это если за окном жара, и кожа хорошо разогрета. Чаще же в нашем украиском воздухе аромат не спешит раскрыться и куксится. Можно на него за это обижаться, а лучше подойти с юмором – посмотреть картинки на сайте производителя, поискать уд, вспомнить, что дыма без огня не бывает

What the desert keeps for us

The author of Liwa perfume from the new Widian “velvet” collection was inspired by the same name oasis in Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, in my view, the fragrance itself reflects, rather, the movement towards this island of happiness. You can imagine Liwa as a polished piece of cherry wood, which was covered with jasmine powder, let us see it, then set on fire and left to smolder. This is if the weather is hot and the skin is warmed up. More often in our Ukrainian air the fragrance does not hurry to open up and even starts sulking. You can pout about it, but it’s better to come up with a sense of humor – see pictures on the manufacturer’s website, look for oud, remember that there is no smoke without fire

Новый парфюм Baruti Dama Koupa (дама червей), пожалуй, не менее капризный, чем Indigo, хотя и, возможно, чуть более женственный. Гурманские, цветочные нюансы должны были бы сделать духи комфортными в носке – но не в случае парфюмера Спироса Дросопулюса. Дама червей задаст жару!

За видимым спокойствием и гордой осанкой скрываются страсти. Теплая древесная и алкогольная части борются с прохладным мускусным воздухом (а оррис помогает вести переговоры всем участникам игры). Поэтому парфюм постоянно меняет температуру и объем. Носить его – как перебирать струны, катать шарик по лабиринту или теребить шнурок. Что-то вроде ольфакторной игрушки для невротиков.

В то же время, Dama Koupa – хороший пример “прирученного” османтуса. Его можно и вовсе не найти в калейдоскопе игры других составляющих, но если сконцентрироваться – нежные цветочки очень украшают эту задиристую композицию.

In force

The latest Baruti perfume Dama Koupa (Queen of Hearts) can be no less capricious than Indigo, though perhaps a little more feminine. Gourmet and floral nuances would have to make perfume comfortable to wear – not the case with the perfumer Spyros Drosopoulos. Queen of Hearts will bring the heat.

The passion is hidden here behind the mask of calm and posture. Warm wood and alcohol parts struggle with cool musky air (orris helps to negotiate all the participants of the game). The perfume is constantly changing temperature and volume. Its wearing like guitar strumming, rolling a ball through a maze, or pulling the cord. Some kind of olfactory toy for neurotics.

At the same time, Dama Koupa is a good example of “tame” osmanthus. You even cannot find it in the kaleidoscope of other components, but sure if you concentrate – small delicate flowers adorn this pugnacious composition.

Один хороший дизайнер когда-то давно дал мне в магазине дельный совет. Не знаешь, что попробовать – выбери флакон, который тебе нравится, и коробку. Много лет я проверяла эту теорию, полагаясь на все, что угодно – только не на дизайн. Но иногда этот простой способ отлично помогает.

Если вам нравится “космический” флакон N-Cigale – познакомьтесь с их ароматом Black Lavender. Все составляющие парфюма работают на то, чтобы создать ольфакторный образ интерьерного украшения. Тонущие в пачулях и оррисе цитрусовые и специи рисуют готический футляр, а изредка подмигивающие цветы изображают блики. Амбровые и кедровые части будто-бы заворачивают сосуд в бумагу – и вуаля, вы его почти купили.

Может ли Black Lavender представиться более природным ароматом? Да! В жаркий летний вечер легче дышать его потоками “воздуха”, чем дождаться движения в атмосфере реальной.

Collecting bottles

Some years ago I took advice from a good designer. Do not know what to try in the store – simply choose the bottle and the box. I tested this theory, relying on anything else – but not on design. However this easiest way can sometimes really help.

If you like the “cosmic” bottle of N-Cigale – get acquainted with their Black Lavender scent. All components of the perfume work to create an olfactory image of the interior decoration. Citrus and spices sinking in patchouli and orris draw Gothic case, and occasionally winking flowers depict glare. Amber and cedar-like parts of the composition look like wrapping paper – and voila, you almost bought it.

Can Black Lavender introduce more natural scent? Yes! In a warm summer nights it is easier to breathe its “air” flow than to wait for a real movement in the atmosphere.
