Тональность урожайной версии, однако, выше, а характер светлее. Мандариновый и грушевый соки текут по легчайшей поверхности безе, а оттеняет великолепие листик базилика.

Мало того, из версии Forte сюда перескочили сахарные драже, добавляя и вкус, и цвет (белый). С первых и до последних минут аромат напоминает радостное ощущение от раннего утра в доме, белых занавесок на кухне и льющегося из окна света. Вот с этим мягким обволакивающим потоком и смешиваются в парфюме воздушные цитрусовые и зеленые “ноты”, аромат чая и запах пророщенных зерен. Это красиво и продумано. Гедонизм и праздник урожая.

On the light side of the kitchen

Limited Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic Harvest (2023) by Guerlain opens with a refreshing aroma of green tea and soft tangerine peel, but quickly makes it clear that it is, along with its brother Aqua Allegoria Forte Mandarine Basilic born a year earlier, a gourmet perfume. The tone of the harvest version, however, is higher, and the character is lighter. Tangerine and pear juices flow over the lightest surface of the meringue, and a basil leaf sets off the magnificence.

Moreover, sugar dragees have jumped here from the Forte version, adding both taste and color (white). From the first to the last minutes, the scent resembles the joyful feeling of an early morning at home, white curtains in the kitchen and the light pouring in from the window. It is with this soft enveloping flow that airy citrus and green “notes”, the aroma of tea and the smell of sprouted grains are mixed in the perfume. It’s beautiful and thoughtful. Hedonism and harvest festival.

Попыталась вернуться к странной “огуречной” Rose Croquante (2022) by Caron в прохладную уже октябрьскую погоду. А задумывался парфюм, согласно официальному описанию, как обонятельный образ теплицы во время полива. Ну не знаю.

Нежная роза и правда парит над всем растущим многообразием. Теплая и слегка фруктовая, в танце с персиком и лепестками жасмина самбак. Однако глаз пытается вычленить все же не капельки влаги на зеленых стеблях, а упаковку с удобрениями и химикатами, так как что-то современное и технологическое сопровождает, охватывает и оставляет послевкусие.

А еще есть ощущение, что кедр, измельченный в труху, добавленный ко всему перечисленному выше, дает запах ила. Аромат, таким образом, если и свежий (местами) и влажный, совершенно точно не городской. Хочется дописать про тренды, лабораторию Caron и происки хитрых маркетологов, но предполагаю, что надо, наверное, дать еще один шанс этому странному парфюму: в другое время, в иной местности, при других обстоятельствах.

As fresh as a daisy

I tried to return to the strange “cucumber” Rose Croquante (2022) perfume by Caron in the cool October weather. And this perfume work, according to the official description, was conceived as an olfactory image of a greenhouse during watering. Well, I’m not sure enough: it is not visible yet.

The delicate rose truly floats above all the growing diversity. Warm and slightly fruity, dancing with peach and jasmine sambac petals. However, the eye is still trying to find not droplets of moisture on green stems, but packaging with fertilizers and chemicals, since something modern and technological accompanies, covers and leaves an aftertaste.

There is also a feeling that cedar, crushed into dust and added to all the above, gives the smell of silt. The perfume, therefore, being somewhere fresh and moist, is still not urban. I’d like to write about trends and the tricks of cunning marketers, but it seems that we should probably give this strange perfume another chance: at a different time, in another area, under other circumstances.

Тема – не новая, но понятная и любимая. Эту розную росу можно было видеть, к примеру, в Rose Muskissime (1988) by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier. У Герлен чуть больше контраста между капельной и “ледяной” формой влаги, розой – облаком и розой – вареньем. Подобные акценты прохладных капель на цветке показывал еще Франсис Кюркджян в Rose de Siwa (2006) by MDCI Parfums, где роза соединена с яблоком и личи. И все же, Rosa Rossa Harvest – из них самая, на мой взгляд, странная. В летнюю пасторальную картинку вдруг врываются снег и “минералы” (какой, однако, вызов). В этой связи я даже нанесла для сравнения аромат, посвященный Гималаям, Stairway to Heaven (2019) by Jul et Mad: удивительно, но даже этот гурманский альдегидный мускусный и ладанный парфюм авторства Сесиль Зарокян звучит мягче. Летняя ли Rosa Rossa Harvest на самом деле? Осталось подождать смены сезонов, чтобы разобраться.

Harvest happens from dew

Returning to the new limited Aqua Allegoria Rosa Rossa Harvest (2023) by Guerlain, the fragrance can reveal itself as a charming still life. A glass of blackcurrant juice with lemon and orange slices, many velvety rose petals, a sugar bowl, gentle daylight, stem tips. Why not take a bath with all these wonderful petals? I wonder what a lychee looks like. Such thoughts come, inhaling the scent of this eau de toilette.

The theme is not new, but beloved and understandable. The same rose dew can be seen, for example, in Rose Muskissime (1988) by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier. Guerlain offers a little more contrast between the drip and “ice” form of moisture, the rose – a cloud and the rose – a jam. Similar accents of cool drops on the flower were shown by Francis Kurkdjian in Rose de Siwa (2006) by MDCI Parfums, where the rose was combined with apple and lychee. And yet, in my opinion, Rosa Rossa Harvest is the strangest of them. Snow and “minerals” suddenly break into the summer pastoral picture (what a challenge). In this regard, I even applied the fragrance dedicated to the Himalayas, Stairway to Heaven (2019) by Jul et Mad, for comparison: surprisingly, even this gourmand aldehyde musky and incense perfume by Cécile Zarokian sounds softer. Is Rosa Rossa Harvest really a summer fragrance? It remains to wait for the change of the seasons to figure this out.

И все же, это звучит слегка и скорее “отсюда”, с полок со сложно закрученными сюжетами вокруг тех или иных ингредиентов, чем из винтажной бутылочки с законченной и волшебной сказкой. Роза при этом – очень хороша здесь, рекомендую. Как и легкая ореховость ближе к базе. Если есть силы абстрагироваться от вольностей дома Guerlain.

A movement towards a niche

Mitsouko by Guerlain, edt, the 2021 edition of the Les Légendaires Collection, drifts, depending on the weather and impressions, from a light degree of authenticity to a serious rethinking in what form we are ready to wear and love this great fragrance after more than a hundred years of its creation. And that’s where I’m right now.

This Mitsouko, an indicator of our inside condition and involvement, shows how much we are here and now – or there, in the wonderful Mitsouko past. How we take neatly measured – but still very modern moss. How acceptable for us here is a toy and “orange” peach. Whether we like voids between statements . . . Earth not entering into an invisible alliance with mosses?

Moreover, the release of 2021 is a movement towards a niche. It’s not that luxury hasn’t touched mossy roses in recent years. And yet, it sounds a little bit more from “here”, the shelves with intricately twisted plots around certain ingredients, than from a vintage bottle with a complete and magical fairy tale. At the same time, a rose is very good here, I would recommend it. As well as light nutty closer to the base. If you have the strength to abstract from the liberties of the Guerlain house, sure.

Как и общаясь с любой зрелой и уважающей себя женщиной.

А еще Jolie Madame может раскрыть гурманскую сторону. К примеру, Бертран Дюшофур, работая над экзотическими блюдами Fusion Sacre – Elle для Majda Bekkali Parfums, вполне мог вдохновляться отрывками Jolie Madame. Высокая кухня и атмосфера, где не обойтись без замечательного кофе и стильной, любимой сумочки.

In excess

Jolie Madame (1953) by Pierre Balmain belongs to the leather group, but it might be seen tricky not because of suede and animal nuances. This perfume requires attention to itself throughout the day due to the richness of its components. There are a lot of things here.

At some point, it seemed to me that the perfumer wanted to show the environment of animals, whose skin is used for the production of bags. Tropics with their huge fragrant flowers, coconuts, clay soil and active insects. So this is not about the fashion only. You don’t get too much leather, or, better to say, the suede in Jolie Madame, and this suede is made elegant. And in my opinion, it is not even a central element. A little later it became clear that Germaine Cellier dug deeper. The center of composition is the world. The whole world. Beautiful world. Rich, diverse. With fine herbs, leaves, spices. And walking along its paths is not boring, but not easy. As well as communicating with any mature and self-respecting woman.

In addition, Jolie Madame can reveal the gourmet side. For example, Bertrand Duchaufour, working on exotic Fusion Sacre – Elle‘ dishes for Majda Bekkali Parfums, could well have been inspired by passages from Jolie Madame. High cuisine and atmosphere, where you cannot do without excellent coffee and stylish, beloved handbag.

Малоизвестный парфюм дома Jean Patou PanAme de Patou (2001) при знакомстве может смутить трансформацией полноценного аромата в функциональный косметический. Красивые роза и пион с бергамотом и грушей, соединившись с липовым цветом, способны напомнить о… лаке для волос. Однако, это всего лишь вариант не самых удачных погоды и раскрытия.

PanAme de Patou идет прохладная осень. Гладкий парфюм, без странностей, показывает все негромко и неторопливо. Персиковую часть славных шипров 20го века, белые цветки жасмина без свежести и индола, веточки липы, грушевый сок. Воспоминания о липовой аллее, старом саде, плетеной мебели и бочке с домашним алкоголем. Крепкий липовый чай делает композицию слегка задиристой. Самое время – подумать над названием аромата. Он – о контрастной, экзотической Панаме – или о незнакомой стороне души. Понимаем ли мы себя?

Сандалово-мшистый дракончик из базы осенью спит, а на его месте видны стволы старых деревьев. PanAme рассказывает другую сказку, о хрустальных туфельках и сизом тумане. Сложно предположить, сколько нашлось бы ценителей этой работы Жан-Мишеля Дюрье, если бы ее перевыпустили в изначальном виде, – но тем, кто парфюмерию изучает, наверняка интересно увидеть мост от цветочных и фруктовых шипров в (обманчиво) свежий и девичий парфюм.

A lost soul

A little-known Jean Patou’ perfume PanAme de Patou (2001) might confuse us by its possible transformation into a functional cosmetic fragrance. A beautiful rose and peony with bergamot and pear, combined with linden blossom, are able to recall the hairspray. Luckily, this is just an option, because of not the most successful weather and disclosure.

PanAme de Patou looks good at a cool autumn. Smooth perfume, without any oddities, shows everything quietly and leisurely. The peach part of the glorious chypres of the 20th century, white jasmine flowers without freshness and indole, linden twigs, pear juice. Memories of a linden alley, an old garden, wicker furniture and a barrel of homemade alcohol. Strong linden tea makes the composition slightly cocky. This is the time to think about the name of the fragrance. Is it about contrasting, exotic Panama – or the unfamiliar side of our soul. Do we understand ourselves well?

A sandalwood-mossy dragon from the base sleeps in the fall, too, and in its place the old trees are visible. PanAme tells another tale about glass slippers and blue fog. It’s difficult to guess, how many connoisseurs of this Jean-Michel Duriez’ work would have been found if PanAme de Patou had been reissued in its original form, but those who study perfumery would probably be interested to see this bridge from floral and fruity chypres to a (deceptively) fresh and girlish perfume.

Снятый с производства Ruffles (1983) by Oscar de la Renta относится к парфюмерии, способной дарить ряд смыслов, образов и настроений. Парфюм не просто яркий, стойкий и довольно плотный – он и многокомпонентный, и многоуровневый. С ним нескучно, особенно любителю цветов на сандаловой основе.

Главный цветок композиции – тубероза, – белая, маслянистая, местами – неоновая, – то бьющая в глаза, то прикидывающаяся паинькой. Ее окружают и зелень с бергамотом, и сладкий жасмин с орхидеями, и даже земляника. Неизменно и щедро Ruffles отдает богатства природы, раскрашивая повседневность в цвета радуги. Его движение напоминает выступление поющих актеров Болливуда – живое, душевное, и все же хорошо отработанное, в ярком освещении, с кордебалетом в стилизованных костюмах, аутентичное, и все же с оглядкой на запад.

Парфюм умеет дотошно пояснять, какими компонентами парфюмеры создают рисунок белых и желтых лепестков, а может лишь акцентировать на карамельной базе с животным нюансом, смягчая под ногами траву и разнося семена одуванчиков.

Bollywood Star

Discontinued Ruffles (1983) by Oscar de la Renta refers to perfumery, capable of giving a number of meanings, images and moods. The perfume is not just bright, stable and quite dense – it is both multi-component and multi-layered. You will never be bored with it, especially if you love flowers on a sandalwood base.

The main flower of the composition is tuberose, white, oily, occasionally neon. Sometimes it needs to be eye-catching, some other time it is pretending to be a good girl. Her surroundings are greens with bergamot, and sweet jasmine with orchids, and even strawberries. Invariably and generously, Ruffles gives the richness of nature, painting everyday life in the colors of the rainbow. Its movement is reminiscent of the performance of Bollywood singing actors – lively, soulful, and yet well worked out, in bright light, with a corps de ballet in stylized costumes, authentic, and yet with an eye on the west.

This perfume can meticulously explain, with what components perfumers create a drawing of white and yellow petals, as well as just to accent on a caramel base with a slight animal nuance, softening the grass under feet and carrying dandelion seeds.

Just Me Montana – ольфакторная зарисовка отдыха в небольшом кафе после работы: легкий алкогольный напиток, клубника, кусочки ананаса. Чуть позже кофе и долька шоколада. Неторопливая беседа, джаз. Ни запах мостовой, ни облако гвоздики не способны вывести из равновесия кого-либо. Кажется, что в парфюме найден баланс между плотностью и толерантностью к ней. Кожа здесь есть, но ее совсем немного, и в принципе, она ничем не гарантирована. Хотите – берите, а если нет – привет!

Некоторое время я пыталась понять, как извлечь эту кожу и даже животных, которые промелькнули таки одним счастливым вечером. В этом смысле Just Me, увы, не приручаем, – поэтому как кожаный парфюм его рассматривать не стоит. И более четкий образ пришел ко мне во время выхода из леса в один из рабочих кварталов, где вылизанный частный сектор соседствует с общежитиями, автосервисом и травмайной колеей. Так вот оно – то, что показывает Монтана: в большом городе нам никуда не деться от резины, рельсов и выхлопа машин.

Evening block

Just Me by Montana is an olfactory sketch of a rest in a small cafe after work: a light alcoholic drink, strawberries, pineapple slices. A little later, coffee and a piece of chocolate, leisurely conversation and jazz. Neither the smell of the pavement, nor the cloud of carnation can discompose anybody. It seems that in the perfume there is a balance between density and tolerance. The leather is here, but it is quite a bit, and you might never find it.

I tried to figure out how to get this leather and even animals, that flashed before my eyes one happy evening. In this sense, Just Me, alas, is not tameable – therefore, it probably shouldn’t be viewed as a leather perfume. And a clearer image came to me during the exit from the forest to one of the working districts, where private sector adjoins dormitories, a car-care center and a tramway line. So here it is – what Montana shows: in a big city we cannot escape rubber, rails and car exhaust.

Любительницам насыщенных цветочных ароматов нужно его попробовать. Проверить, хватит ли пороха выдержать натиск. Gucci Rush (1999) выпускался для смелых.

Сухая, теплая и дружелюбная база аромата вознаграждает за терпение в полной мере.

Adrenalin rush

Fans of rich floral scents need to try it. Check, if there is enough blood in your veins to withstand the attack. Gucci Rush (1999) was produced for the brave ladies.

The initial pressure of freesia and coriander is perhaps the hardest. Love – or die. Gardenia here is also active and green. The general impression from the beginning of the disclosure of the perfume is that someone shot near the crackers. I would like to take this “fat” gardenia part as an exotic dessert, but no, Rush did not plan to relax anyone.

I guess the closest perfume to Gucci Rush is a year later Noir Epices from Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle. Rather ideologically, than their components, although they include the common elements, too. Both perfumes pull all the forces to the contemplation of their southern floral beauty and smelling the skin of the Arabs. Both, being oriental and saturated, are at the same time quite fresh and vigorous.

It is better to wear Rush several times: when the nose gets used to unusual olfactory pyrotechnics, it is easier to distinguish the gourmet nuances of jasmine hugs, to “taste” toy peaches, to notice the collective lily and neat rose bushes. A dry, warm and friendly base of the scent rewards patience to the fullest.

Must II от Cartier (1993) – в определенном смысле, вызов. Не только кошельку, но и вниманию, так как не особенно прост и предсказуем. Парфюм разворачивает сражение старого и нового, теплого и прохладного, краткого и обстоятельного. Даже небольшая его мыльность воспринимается позитивно – как часть загадки, образа.

Нарцисс, прекрасный нарцисс – главный герой повествования. В обрамлении бергамота, лимона и персика из самой Samsara Guerlain, получив благословение, живет уже своей, насыщенной цветочной жизнью. Красуется лепестками, демонстрирует стебли, тянется к солнцу и покачивается на ветру. Радует нежным дыханием, в котором воспоминания о других цветах-приятелях: гвоздике и ирисах. Must II будто бы повторяет жизнеутверждающую мантру под звук колокольчика и дразнит красивой травянистой горечью из Ivoire de Balmain.

The weight of narcissus

Must II by Cartier (1993) is, in some sense, a challenge. Not only for wallet, but for attention also, as it is not particularly simple and predictable. Perfume unfolds the battle of the old and the new, warm and cool, brief and thorough. Even its small soapiness is seen as something positive – as part of a riddle, an image.

Narcissus, beautiful narcissus, is the hero of the story. Having received the blessing with bergamot, lemon and peach straight from Samsara by Guerlain, it is living its own rich floral life. Showing its petals and stems, reaching for the sun and swaying in the wind, the perfume pleases with gentle breath, in which memories of other mates-flowers, carnation and iris, come to mind. Must II supposedly repeats the life-affirming mantra with the sound of the bell and teases with its beautiful grassy bitterness from Ivoire de Balmain.
