Удивительно, но бессознательно, обратившись к довольно большему и разнообразному ассортименту согревающей гурманики, выбрала как-то один за другим именно этих красавцев. А похожи они только тем, что оба – про странствия: в одном – рассказ о разбойниках и подготовке к путешествиям (запасаются печеньем, табаком и ромом), а в другом – о пребывании на дальнем острове и раскуривании ладана. Habit Rouge Parfum раскрывает современный вариант кожи, дегтя, дыма, специй и красивой не кондитерской ванили, и аромат печенья позже начинает здорово работать на плоскость “дальней земли”, горячего песка, над которым клубится пар, – примерно как в Oud Extrait (2018) by MFK, о котором писала ранее. Амбра же принимает участие в образах давно не принимавших душ странников и их видавших виды одежд. Тогда как Or des Indes показывает красивый закат, великолепные пейзажы в мягком свете и совершенно беспардонный, черноночной жасмин. Ладан в нем – и тот цветочный.

Оба парфюма, из 1988 и 2024 – актуальны и увлекательны.

In the islands

Or des Indes (1988) by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier and Habit Rouge Parfum (2024) by Guerlain. Despite the red color of the sample boxes, the fragrances have not been felt red. However, there is a common component in their compositions, and this is geranium. Surprisingly, but unconsciously, having turned to a fairly large and varied assortment of warming gourmands, I somehow chose these beauties one after another. And they are similar only in that both are about journeys: one is a story about robbers and preparation for travel (stocking up on cookies, tobacco and rum), another is about being on a distant island and burning incense. Habit Rouge Parfum reveals a modern version of leather, tar, smoke, spices and beautiful non-confectionery vanilla, and later the scent of cookies begins to create an image of the “distant land” and hot sand, over which steam is blowing – much like in Oud Extrait de Parfum (2018) by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, which I wrote about earlier. Ambergris takes part in the images of travelers who have not showered for a long time and their shabby clothes. While Or des Indes shows a beautiful sunset, magnificent landscapes in soft light and completely shameless, black-night jasmine. Incense in it is also floral friendly.

Both perfumes, from 1988 and 2024, are relevant and exciting.

Еще только конец апреля – а в инстаграме начала появляться реклама соблазнительных шелковых платьев для отпуска, и я с удивлением обнаруживаю, что примерно таким выбрала и парфюм дня. Tubéreuse (1988) by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier будто бы создана для этих целей: композиция держится на контрасте сливочной, кокосовой мякоти туберозы и свежего растительного мускуса. В окружении зелени, розовой воды, терпкости жасмина и едва уловимого печенья и проходит наш день. В базе они близки, на мой взгляд, с ее сестрицей Rose Muskissime того же года создания – но если с Розой мы отправляемся в Марокко, то Тубероза зовет куда-то западнее, на молодежные курорты с дискотеками и свободными нравами.

Further to the west

It’s only the end of April, but ads for seductive silk vacation dresses have begun to appear on Instagram, and I’m surprised to find that I chose the perfume of the day in approximately the same way. Tubéreuse (1988) by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier seems to be created for this purpose: the composition rests on the contrast of creamy, coconut pulp of tuberose and fresh vegetable musk. Our day is spent surrounded by greenery, rose water, tartness of jasmine and barely perceptible cookies. In the base, they are close, in my opinion, with her sister Rose Muskissime of the same year of creation – but if we go to Morocco with Rose, then Tuberose calls somewhere to the west, to youth resorts with discos and free morals.

Secrète Datura Maître Parfumeur et Gantier вначале легко принять за милый девичий аромат, цветочный и звонкий. Ландышы красуются и прячутся в медовую чащу. Сандалово-орисовое облако с какао, как нежная родительская опека, согревает и не напрягает. Может, мы из этого уже выросли?

Но надо дать парфюму второй, третий и даже седьмой шанс. Несмотря на фантазийный дурман, выступающий за картинными колокольчиками ландыша, Secrète Datura – про что-то другое. Меня охватывает чувство светлой грусти о том, что было и прошло, и все компоненты парфюма выстраиваются в очень трогательную мелодию, которую, тем не менее, запомнить не получается. Жасмин здесь сделан классически, но очень приглушен, его обвязывают шелковой гвоздикой. Аромат то звучит, то тихо дышит (а может, вздыхает? :).

Я не слышу у Secrète Datura какой-то отчетливо наступающей базы, но то, что доносится, тянет то в землю, то в небо. В 1992 году парфюмеры девичьи тайны уважали и продавали не только идею, а и даже камертон к инструментам восприятия.

The childhood will live on somewhere, but no longer here

Secrète Datura by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier can easily be mistaken for a sweet girlish scent, floral and sonorous. Lily-of-the-valley, like painted pretty boys, show up and hide in a honeycomb. Sandalwood-orris cloud with cocoa, as a tender parental care, warms and does not put stress. Maybe we are getting a little old for all this?

But it is better to give the perfume a second, third and even seventh chance. Despite the fantasy datura, acting after the picturesque bells of the lily of the valley, Secrète Datura is about something else. I feel a sense of light sadness about what happened and passed, and all the components of the perfume are lined up in a very touching melody, which, however, can not be remembered. Jasmine here is made classically, but very muffled, and it is tied with a silk clove. The fragrance sounds for a while, then breathes quietly (or maybe cries about something? :).

I do not hear any clear base from Secrète Datura, but interestingly, after all it pulls into the ground, then into the sky. In 1992, perfumers respected girlish mysteries and sold not only the idea, but even the tuning fork to the instruments of perception.
