Познакомившись с изданным в прошлом году L’Homme Idéal Parfum by Guerlain, я почувствовала, что надо бы обновить впечатления и о парфюме другого бренда – Pink Boa (2022) by Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777. И именно в переключении от одного к другому становилось ясно, насколько оба этих аромата кокетливы. Pink Boa, конечно же, больше, – в нем есть раскованность и следование модным и спорным трендам (взять хотя бы запах лосося, к которому в духах, как мне кажется, готовы подступиться далеко не все). Pink Boa предлагает много оттенков розового, и при этом адресован все же взрослой аудитории обоих полов. Несмотря на актуальную ягодность (малина, затем – клюква), парфюм одновременно притягательный и страшный. Ни красивый абстрактный цветок в средних “нотах”, ни вкусный абрикосовый компот в базе не отменят его скрытого драконьего характера. Здесь – сочетание змеиной, плюс, какой-то даже птичьей – и привычной галантерейной кожи.

L’Homme Idéal Parfum скрывает ту же кожу. Не факт, что все три ее составляющие, либо же, взятые в той же пропорции. Но в целом, тут для меня – их общее место. А также, – в ягодном декоре. Герлен, правда, добавили хорошо проработанные брендом вишни и черешни. В-третьих, их роднит алкоголь. Ликер (а в Pink Boa – водка) и некая симпатичная прозрачность от бокала или рюмки, что балансирует в целом и сладкую ягодность, и ощутимые вкусные специи (здесь – кардамон).

Смело могу рекомендовать знакомство с ними обоими (хоть параллельно, а хоть и вне связи друг с другом), если вы готовы пуститься во все тяжкие хорошо отрежиссированного фильма.

P.S. Кроме отодвинутого на второй план, но все же ощутимого печенья из вышедшего в тот же период Habit Rouge Parfum в L’Homme Idéal Parfum есть еще интересная пропитка белым кремом. Этот крем вместе с вишневым кардамоном сопровождают раскрытие галантерейной кожи. И позже появится аромат сухого дерева. Настолько сухого, что правильнее, наверное, будет сказать, пенька.

Non-obvious connections

When I got acquainted with L’Homme Idéal Parfum by Guerlain released last year, I felt that I should compare it to another brand’s perfume – Pink Boa (2022) by Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777. In switching from one to the other it became clear how flirtatious both of these fragrances are. Pink Boa, of course, is more unique: it has a lot of relaxedness and follows fashionable and controversial trends (take at least the smell of salmon, to which, in my view, not all are ready in perfumes). It offers many shades of pink, and yet is addressed to an adult audience of both sexes. Despite the actual berry (raspberry, then cranberry), the perfume is simultaneously attractive and scary. Neither the beautiful abstract flower in the middle “notes” nor the delicious apricot compote in the base will cancel out its hidden dragon character. Here is a combination of snake, plus some even bird – and the usual haberdashery leather.

L’Homme Idéal Parfum hides the same “skin”. It is not a fact that all three of its components, or taken in the same proportion. But overall, for me, here is their common place. As well, I can see the intersections in the berry decor. Guerlain, however, added cherries and sweet cherries, well-developed by the brand. And thirdly, they are related by alcohol. Liqueur (and in Pink Boa – vodka) and some nice transparency from a glass or shot glass, which generally balances both the sweet berry and noticeable tasty spices (in this one – cardamom).

I can recommend meeting them both (in parallel, and even independently of each other), if you are ready to walk on the wild side.

P.S. In addition to the hidden but still noticeable biscuit note from Habit Rouge Parfum, released in the same period, there is also an interesting soaking with white cream in L’Homme Idéal Parfum. This cream, together with cherry cardamom, accompany the unfolding of haberdashery leather. And later, the scent of dry wood will appear. So dry that it would probably be more correct to say stump.

Но нет, лабданум все-таки пьяный, а кабина прогревается горячим кондиционированным воздухом: узнаем нишу во всех ее тенденциях.

Leather interior

Today it is still interesting to see how black color was represented in Amouage ten years ago when they created Memoir Woman. Now we can compare this scent not only with its wonderful predecessors within the brand itself, but also with many dark and burning perfumes with alcoholic and fruity shades, including the scent of leather, which came out from other brands – and note that Memoir is decent.

I see the scent of a flying cabin with a leather salon, and it moves through a scattering of white flowers and light effects. The path is open among the clouds, protected by spices and balsamic fuel. The leather is well felt here: haberdashery, with soft animal nuances and styrax. Jasmine and gardenia are made so well that at times it seems that the authors of Memoir were inspired by Jolie Madame (1953) by Pierre Balmain. But no, the labdanum is still drunk, and the cabin is warmed up with hot conditioned air: we recognize a niche in all its tendencies.

Четкие параллели вы сможете провести снежной зимой, когда контраст между красивой голубой цветочной аурой и темной замшей и мягкими животными нюансами особенно заметен. В день святого Валентина парфюм украсит и его, и ее. Но в летнюю жару эту конструкцию Натали Фейстауэр разглядывать тоже интересно, потому что она слегка отходит от портрета к пасторальным картинам.

Во-первых, появляется садовая мебель из ротанга и теплый хлеб на льняной скатерти. Во-вторых – молочные облака и общая расслабляющая атмосфера киселя. Сочетание капель росы и пудры, а также кокетливых песчинок специй. Парфюм – плотный и изящный одновременно, утверждающий красоту жизни, природы и классического искусства. Среди трио ароматов, вышедших в серии Painters and perfumers в 2019, этот – мой любимец.

With a collar

L’homme aux gants by Parfums MDCI, as an olfactory illustration of Titian’s famous portrait “The Man with the Glove”, conveys the colors and tactile sensations of the young man’s suit. You can draw clear parallels in the snowy winter, when the contrast between the beautiful blue floral aura and dark suede and soft animal nuances is especially noticeable. On Valentine’s Day, perfume will adorn both him and her. But in the summer heat it is also interesting to look at this Nathalie Feisthauer’ construction, because it slightly departs from a portrait to pastoral paintings.

Firstly, there are rattan garden furniture and warm bread on a linen tablecloth. Secondly – milky clouds and a general relaxing atmosphere of jelly. A combination of dewdrops and powder, as well as flirty grains of spice. The perfume is dense and elegant at the same time, affirming the beauty of life, nature and classical art. Among the trio of fragrances released in the Painters and perfumers series in 2019, this is my favorite.

Новая серия Parfums MDCI Painters and perfumers напоминает о прекрасных картинах классиков достойными современными парфюмами, и сегодня хочется написать о работе Натали Фейстауэр Cuir Cavalier. Изящный цветочный кожаный и удовый аромат передает цвета, настроение и детали портрета кисти Теодора Жерико «Офицер конных егерей императорской гвардии, идущий в атаку». Мандарин и теплая роза уравновешиваются шафраном с аккуратной металлической нотой (клинок), а также слегка специевой кожей (сбруя). С хорошим раскрытием легко представить эффектные алые лепестки, ягоды клюквы, калины или даже кровь, хотя парфюм рассказывает, скорее, о жизни, силе и здоровье. И чуть позже можно почувствовать саму лошадку – маслянистый, с каплей дегтя и “пороха” аромат уда.

Cuir Cavalier – пышный и бархатный, как уютный коврик или диван в музее. И если вам полюбился Mon Seul Désir, созданный Стефани Бакуш для Jul et Mad, тоже, кстати, как ольфакторная иллюстрация знаменитой картины (“Дама с единорогом”), – стоит попробовать и Cuir Cavalier, как мультигендерную мягкую специевую кожу с мандарином, цветами и удом.

Blood, flowers and grass

Decent modern perfumes from the new series of Parfums MDCI Painters and perfumers remind us of beautiful classical paintings, and today I’d like to write about Nathalie Feisthauer’ work Cuir Cavalier. Elegant floral leather and oud fragrance conveys the colors, mood and details of the portrait by Théodore Géricault “An Officer of the Imperial Horse Guards Charging”. Tangerine and warm rose are balanced by saffron with a neat metallic note (blade), as well as by slightly spicy leather (bridle). With a good opening, it is easy to imagine spectacular scarlet petals, cranberries or even drops of blood, although the perfume tells more about life, strength and health. And a little later you can feel the horse itself – oily, with a hint of tar and “gunpowder” oud scent.

Cuir Cavalier is lush and velvet, like a cozy rug or sofa at the museum. And if you fell in love with Mon Seul Désir, created by Stephanie Bakouche for Jul et Mad, which, by the way, was also inspired by the work of art (“The Lady and the Unicorn”), it’s worth trying Cuir Cavalier, as multi-gender soft leather scent with flowers, tangerine and oud.

В серии “Художники и Парфюмеры” французского парфюмерного бренда Parfums MDCI в прошлом году вышли ольфакторные интерпретации трех знаменитых картин. И сейчас я пишу о работе Сесиль Зарокян над “портретом” Томаса Гейнсборо «Мальчик в голубом».

Парфюм Blue Satin – мультигендерный, мужчины смогут найти в нем свои радости, а женщины – свои. А точнее, и мужчины и женщины, скорее всего, смогут увидеть оба раскрытия в разную погоду. И вот что заметила я.

Женский или, можно даже сказать, детский вариант – это тонкая абстрактная кожа в обрамлении нарядных, будто нарисованных фруктов и цитрусовых – лимонных долек, ананасных кубиков, ломтиков дыни. Цвет композиции – желто-голубой или даже желто-лавандовый, иной раз кажется, что какая-то часть лаванды тут присутствует тоже – и это не так свежо и вкусно, как сказочно. Кожаная деталь на красивой атласной ткани.

В мужском варианте лимон и плод бергамота становятся ледяными, и на ум приходит уже не ткань, а алкогольный коктейль, с шафранной пылью и перцем. Сладкие фрукты здесь почти не чувствуются, но хорошо ощущается бальзам из лепестков жасмина. Мне эта вариация кажется элегантным зонтом,  – и по фактуре, и по назначению. Бодрит по утрам и защищает в непогоду.

To wear a work of art

The French perfume brand Parfums MDCI has launched the collection “Painters and Perfumers” and now I am writing about Cécile Zarokian’ olfactive translation of Thomas Gainsborough’s famous portrait «The Blue boy».

It seems, Blue Satin perfume will suit both men and women. More precisely, both ladies and gentlemen might see several disclosures in different types of weather. And these are my thoughts.

The female or, one might even say, the children’s version is a thin abstract leather framed by charming, like a painting, fruits and citrus – lemon and melon slices, and pineapple chunks. The colors of the composition are yellow and blue or even yellow and lavender, sometimes it seems that some part of lavender is present here, too – and I don’t get that as fresh and tasty – rather as fabulous. Leather detail on a beautiful satin fabric.

In the male version, the lemon and bergamot fruit become icy, and it is not fabric that comes to mind, but an alcoholic cocktail, with saffron dust and pepper. Sweet fruits are almost not felt here, but jasmine balm is well visible. I see this variation as an elegant umbrella, both in texture and purpose. It gives you a burst of energy and protects in bad weather.

Кожи, а скорее, замши в Jolie Madame немного, и она тонко и красиво сделана. И на мой взгляд, она даже не центральный элемент. Но чуть позже стало понятно, что Жермен Селье взяла глубже. Центр композиции и есть мир. Весь мир. Красивый мир. Богатый, разнообразный. С прекрасными травами, листьями, специями. И ходить его тропами нескучно, но и несладко. Как и общаясь с любой зрелой и уважающей себя женщиной.

А еще Jolie Madame может раскрыть гурманскую сторону. К примеру, Бертран Дюшофур, работая над экзотическими блюдами Fusion Sacre – Elle для Majda Bekkali Parfums, вполне мог вдохновляться отрывками Jolie Madame. Высокая кухня и атмосфера, где не обойтись без замечательного кофе и стильной, любимой сумочки.

In excess

Jolie Madame (1953) by Pierre Balmain belongs to the leather group, but it might be seen tricky not because of suede and animal nuances. This perfume requires attention to itself throughout the day due to the richness of its components. There are a lot of things here.

At some point, it seemed to me that the perfumer wanted to show the environment of animals, whose skin is used for the production of bags. Tropics with their huge fragrant flowers, coconuts, clay soil and active insects. So this is not about the fashion only. You don’t get too much leather, or, better to say, the suede in Jolie Madame, and this suede is made elegant. And in my opinion, it is not even a central element. A little later it became clear that Germaine Cellier dug deeper. The center of composition is the world. The whole world. Beautiful world. Rich, diverse. With fine herbs, leaves, spices. And walking along its paths is not boring, but not easy. As well as communicating with any mature and self-respecting woman.

In addition, Jolie Madame can reveal the gourmet side. For example, Bertrand Duchaufour, working on exotic Fusion Sacre – Elle‘ dishes for Majda Bekkali Parfums, could well have been inspired by passages from Jolie Madame. High cuisine and atmosphere, where you cannot do without excellent coffee and stylish, beloved handbag.

Just Me Montana – ольфакторная зарисовка отдыха в небольшом кафе после работы: легкий алкогольный напиток, клубника, кусочки ананаса. Чуть позже кофе и долька шоколада. Неторопливая беседа, джаз. Ни запах мостовой, ни облако гвоздики не способны вывести из равновесия кого-либо. Кажется, что в парфюме найден баланс между плотностью и толерантностью к ней. Кожа здесь есть, но ее совсем немного, и в принципе, она ничем не гарантирована. Хотите – берите, а если нет – привет!

Некоторое время я пыталась понять, как извлечь эту кожу и даже животных, которые промелькнули таки одним счастливым вечером. В этом смысле Just Me, увы, не приручаем, – поэтому как кожаный парфюм его рассматривать не стоит. И более четкий образ пришел ко мне во время выхода из леса в один из рабочих кварталов, где вылизанный частный сектор соседствует с общежитиями, автосервисом и травмайной колеей. Так вот оно – то, что показывает Монтана: в большом городе нам никуда не деться от резины, рельсов и выхлопа машин.

Evening block

Just Me by Montana is an olfactory sketch of a rest in a small cafe after work: a light alcoholic drink, strawberries, pineapple slices. A little later, coffee and a piece of chocolate, leisurely conversation and jazz. Neither the smell of the pavement, nor the cloud of carnation can discompose anybody. It seems that in the perfume there is a balance between density and tolerance. The leather is here, but it is quite a bit, and you might never find it.

I tried to figure out how to get this leather and even animals, that flashed before my eyes one happy evening. In this sense, Just Me, alas, is not tameable – therefore, it probably shouldn’t be viewed as a leather perfume. And a clearer image came to me during the exit from the forest to one of the working districts, where private sector adjoins dormitories, a car-care center and a tramway line. So here it is – what Montana shows: in a big city we cannot escape rubber, rails and car exhaust.

Adjatay: cuir narcotique by The Different Company не так страшен и дерзок, как описывает пресс-релиз и пугают блогеры. Если вы уже подходили к туберозам из нишевых линеек, то легко носили и не такое Ни подчеркнутые лактоны, ни оттенки грибов не способны поколебать намерение познакомиться и подружиться. Кожа в весенний солнечный день ведет себя тихо. Тонкая замша, как второй план. Как шутка. Как аромат-аксессуар.

Но и к пушистым котятам этот парфюм тоже не отнести. Характером он, возможно, ближе всего, к Черной ночи Mona di Orio. Союзом ярких туберозы и жасмина с по-настоящими животными нотами. Черный и соленый хлыст в Adjatay: cuir narcotique можно представить тоже именно ночью, после дождя. И те же “африканские” страсти, хотя бы намеком.

Спасибо парфюмеру Александре Моне, Adjatay скроен ладно, без проглядывающих химических кожаных баз.

With the purse

Adjatay: cuir narcotique by The Different Company is not so black and insolent as press release says and bloggers write. If you have already tested tuberose perfumes from niche lines, it will not kill you for sure. Neither enhanced lactones nor mushroom shades might stop us from befriending the scent. The cuir will also stay quiet in these spring days. Like goat-skin suede. As a joke. As a little accessory.

But it is impossible to attribute it to a fuzzy kitten also. Its character seems to be pretty close to Noit Noire by Mona di Orio, thanks to amazing combination of bright tuberose and jasmine with animalic notes. You can easily imagine the black and salty whip in Adjatay: cuir narcotique exactly in the night, after rain, and find the same bodice-ripping here.

The perfumer Alexandra Monet as a good tailor did really good job by hiding modern chemical leather base.

Мне сложно представить, какой эпизод романа Фрэнсиса Скотта Фицджеральда “Ночь нежна” послужил точкой отсчета для арт-директора Collection Sculptures olfactives Мажды Беккали и парфюмера Дельфин Тьерри, но думаю, они вполне могли бы начать отсюда:

Ночь была черная, но прозрачная, точно в сетке подвешенная к одинокой тусклой звезде. Вязкая густота воздуха приглушала клаксон шедшей впереди «изотты». Шофер Брэди вел машину не торопясь; задние фары «изотты» иногда лишь показывались на повороте дороги, а потом и вовсе исчезли из виду.

Tendre Est La Nuit не то чтобы действительно полупрозрачный как для парфюма о черной ночи, но ведет себя довольно-таки аккуратно. Модный нишевый бессмертник не пытается залезть вам прямо в душу, а специи заключают в крепкие объятия, в которых, однако, вполне можно дышать. Это похоже на настройку гитары – одновременная проверка силы натяжения и высоты звучания, а также – не болят ли пальцы после вчерашней тренировки. И когда становится очевидным, что все в порядке – можно оглядеться и оценить обстановку.

Tendre Est La Nuit гораздо более стойкий, чем главный герой романа Дик Дайвер. В этом плане ему можно довериться. Что он при этом будет показывать – все-таки зависит от многих факторов, и парфюмер подготовила несколько сценариев развития событий: кожа, дерево, тихий распив алкогольных напитков. Мы убедились, что чета Дайверов умеет получать от жизни удовольствия – выезжают ли они в свет или принимают гостей у себя. И эта многофункциональность сыграет на руку и с парфюмом Majda Bekkali – надушиться им можно в общем много когда и куда.

И все же, не все так просто с этим Tendre Est La Nuit. Есть в нем что-то опасное, что прячется в тени до поры до времени.  Нет, я не имею в виду страшные мускусы или животные запахи – которые тут впрочем присутствуют, и вполне удачно. Что-то кроется именно в комбинации ингредиентов, которые приглашают приблизиться – и вдруг категорически отталкивают. Если ваши нервы в порядке – можно попробовать вытянуть немного адреналина с Tendre Est La Nuit. Но если вы устали физически – и главное, эмоционально – я бы посоветовала воздержаться от этого, на первый взгляд, комфортного аромата, потому что может оказаться, что вовсе не он будет поддерживать вас, а скорее вы должны будете помочь ему.

— Помоги мне, Дик, помоги мне!

У него защемило сердце. Ужасно, что такая прекрасная башня не может стоять без подпоры, а подпорой должен быть он. В какой-то мере это даже было правильно — такова роль мужчины: фундамент и идея, контрфорс и логарифм. Но Дик и Николь стали, по существу, равны и едины; никто из них не дополнял и не продолжал другого; она была Диком тоже, вошла в его плоть и кровь.

Filling the emptiness

It’s hard to imagine which episode from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel “Tender Is the Night” served as the starting point for the art director of Collection Sculptures olfactives Majda Bekkali and perfumer Delphine Thierry, but I guess they could perfectly start from here:

It was a limpid black night, hung as in a basket from a single dull star. The horn of the car ahead was muffled by the resistance of the thick air. Brady’s chauffeur drove slowly; the tail-light of the other car appeared from time to time at turnings — then not at all.

Tendre Est La Nuit is not really translucent for a perfume about black night, but it opens pretty neat. Trendy niche immortelle isn’t trying to get straight to the soul, and spices enclose in a hug, in which, however, it is possible to breathe. It’s like tuning a guitar – at the same time you check the tension force and the height of the sound, as well as if your fingers do not hurt after yesterday’s workout. And when it becomes clear that everything is right – you can look around.

Tendre Est La Nuit is much more resistant than the protagonist of the novel, Dick Diver. In this regard, you can trust it. What it will show still depends on many factors, and the perfumer has prepared several scenarios: leather, wood, modest drinking. We have seen that Nicole & Dick Diver can get pleasure from life – whether they go out or throw a dinner/party. This versatility helps also with Majda Bekkali’s perfume – you can wear it to many places.

And yet, Tendre Est La Nuit is not so simple. There is something dangerous in it, that is hiding in the shadows for the time being. No, I don’t mean terrible musks or animal smells – that are present there, and quite successfully. Something lies in the combination of ingredients that invite to get closer – and suddenly strongly repel. If your nerves are healthy – you can try to pull a little bit of adrenaline with Tendre Est La Nuit. But if you are tired – I would advise to restrain yourself from this, at first glance, comfortable perfume. It may happen that it will not support you, but rather you will have to help it.

“Help me, help me, Dick!”

A wave of agony went over him. It was awful that such a fine tower should not be erected, only suspended, suspended from him. Новинка Cuir de R’Eve David Jourquin напомнила мне о мебели из родительской спальни – основательном шкафе и комоде из красного дерева, где хранилось много-чего интересного, что хотелось и рассмотреть, и пощупать. Cuir de R’Eve балансирует на грани нафталинного, сундучного аромата и в то же время яркого и модного аксессуара. Чего только стоит его красная кожаная одежка!

Чем пахнет парфюм, довольно-таки честно расписано на сайте создателя, а я только поделюсь впечатлениями. За нарядным убранством и чинно-благородным выступлением скрываются воспоминания о красиво снятой эротической сцене в кино. Руки, скользящие по гладким простыням, влажные плечи, хищные взгляды и яркая губная помада.

У Cuir de R’Eve нет никаких проблем со стыдом, он даже объявлен дневным парфюмом. Думаю, аромат не станет раздражать окружающих ни телесной, ни гурманской стороной. Парфюмер так удачно сплел мускусную, ванильную и гелиотропную части с ирисом, что остается только расслабиться и получить удовольствие от составляющих, которые в других сочетаниях могли бы и напрячь.

А еще у Давида Журкена продуманная политика buy & try. Свой 5 мл-вый образец в фирменном кожаном мешочке я с удовольствием положила на полочку нижнего белья

Put it in a chest of drawers

Latest Cuir de R’Eve David Jourquin reminded me of furniture from my parents’ bedroom – solid mahogany wardrobe and chest of drawers, which stored a lot of interesting things that I wanted to contemplate and touch. Cuir de R’Eve balances on the verge of naphthaline, vintage fragrance and bright and fashionable accessory at the same time. Look at its red leather cover alone!

The fragrance has been described quite honestly on the creator’s website, so I will only share my impressions of it. Behind the elegant furnishing and nobel performance are hidden memories of a beautifully shot erotic movie scene.
