Вышедшая зимой Tabac Sahara (2026) от Guerlain все же требовала тепла и настроения, чтобы понять идею парфюмера и оценить красоту, хотя картинки и описания на сайте компании, как обычно, завораживали. Но и по холоду Tabac Sahara изображала поединок табака и мха, битву, украшенную ягодкой-малиной и другими десертами. С ладаном и абстрактными слоями не опознаваемого, что намекало на неизведанную территорию, но и огорчало тоже. Парфюм – резкий и дерзкий – оставлял много вопросов. И первый из них, станет ли это звучать лучше где-то поближе к пустыне.

Насчет табака. Как мне кажется, Дельфина Жельк проводит нас через три его разновидности: вишневый трубочный, собственно, лист – и дым. Все – по-своему интересны. В отсутствии увлекательности парфюм не обвинить. И в то же время, несмотря на название, табак – не главный герой этого действа. А вернее, он герой, конечно – но в отряде таких же сильных бойцов, как и он.

А еще, тепло проявило розу, причем почти с самого начала. И это сразу дало аромату много очков вперед. Когда в составе красиво исполненная роза, мне спокойно, какая бы экзотика не дала о себе знать впоследствии. Хотя смущать парфюм может вовсе и не экзотикой. К примеру, вчера я заподозрила в нем куриный пирог. Да-да, горячее тесто и запах курицы. Но представлять решила редких ночных птиц.

Perfume tourism

Tabac Sahara (2026) by Guerlain, released in winter, required warmth and a good mood to understand the perfumer’s concept and appreciate its beauty, though the images and description on the company’s website were, as usual, captivating. And here’s what provided the warmth: grape churchkhela at the top, smoked plum, and even cherry. A tin glass with a beautiful pattern and a soft, amber sunset light. The image was completed.

But even in the cold, Tabac Sahara depicted a duel between tobacco and moss, a battle adorned with raspberries and other desserts. With incense and abstract layers of the unidentifiable, which hinted at uncharted territory, but was also disappointing. The perfume – harsh and bold – left many questions. The first of them was whether it would sound better somewhere closer to the desert.

Regarding tobacco. It seems to me that Delphine Jelk takes us through three of its varieties: cherry pipe, the leaf itself, and smoke. Each is interesting in its own way. The perfume can’t be accused of lacking intrigue. And at the same time, despite the name, tobacco isn’t the star of this performance. Or rather, it is, of course, but in a group of equally strong fighters.

Also, the warmth revealed the rose, almost from the very beginning. And this immediately gave the fragrance a significant boost. When a beautifully executed rose is present, I’m at peace, no matter how exotic it may become. Although, it’s not the exoticism that can be disconcerting about the perfume. For example, yesterday I suspected it was chicken pie. Yes, hot dough and the smell of chicken. But I decided to imagine rare night birds.

Накрыв полянку и добавив консервацию (черешневый компот, черничный джем), нам сервируют и десертный напиток (амаретто). В компании учли вкус дам всех возрастов. Вместе с красивой розой с алыми и рыжыми лепестками опять же предлагают леденец. Конфету и помаду. И пирог с вишнями из бутикового Oud Nude (2022). И было бы немного слишком, если бы не сенные оттенки бобов тонка, лакричный нюанс изначальной версии и оррисовая пудра (паста?). По итогу, новая версия маленького черного платья закрывает сразу несколько популярных запросов: на орешки, на ирисы и на яркие сочные ягоды.

And you smell like candy

La Petite Robe Noire Parfum (2025) by Guerlain was released in December, focusing on the tasty part of the scent. Judge for yourself: in addition to the sweet and healing berries (raspberry, red currant, blackberry and cherry), the composition is enhanced with chocolate cream. And not just any chocolate, but with hazelnuts. This gives the classic sugary-patchouli vibe of Angel Mugler a modern feel.

After setting the table and adding preserves (cherry compote, blueberry jam), we are served a dessert drink (amaretto). The company took into account the tastes of ladies of all ages. Along with a beautiful rose with scarlet petals, they offer a lollipop. Candy and lipstick. And a cherry pie from the boutique perfume Oud Nude (2022). It would be a bit over the top if not for the hay-like undertones of tonka bean, the licorice nuance of the original version, and the orris powder (paste?). Ultimately, the new version of the little black dress hits several popular notes at once: nuts, irises, and bright, juicy berries.

Смею предположить, что ни травными своими нюансами, ни анималистичными нигде и никому она не жмет. Shalimar L’Essence (2025) – действительно про праздник, и в какой-то мере, как у нас принято говорить, про праздник живота, так как предлагает аромат круассанов и даже изысканных десертов, с ванилью и шоколадом (зависит от погодных условий и температуры кожи). При этом гурманством новинка не душит: угощения сервированы на свежем воздухе. Может раскрываться оазисом в пустыне или, наоборот, радовать ароматом моря, – так, что вы сразу же вспомните, каким был Шалимар в прошлом. Из ориентиров: мне кажется, ближайшие родственники новинки – Shalimar Legere (2003) (лимончики) и Shalimar Philtre de Parfum (2020) (миндаль). Жасмином же своим версия L’Essence, на мой взгляд, изданные в последние годы “жасминовые” парфюмы компании не повторяет, что и удачно. В ней комфортно спать и ни о чем не беспокоиться – как это было в детстве.

Celebration of life

All autumn, Guerlain lovers celebrated Shalimar’s centenary with Shalimar L’Essence (2025), created for the event – and it’s easy to continue the celebration, as the new perfume is crafted as cutie. I dare say it doesn’t feel too overwhelming, either with its herbal or animalic nuances. Shalimar L’Essence (2025) is truly a celebration, and to some extent, as we say, a feast for the stomach, offering the aroma of croissants and even exquisite desserts, with vanilla and chocolate (depending on the weather and skin temperature). At the same time, gourmandism doesn’t stifle the new perfume: the treats are served in the fresh air. It can unfold like a desert oasis or, conversely, delight with the scent of the sea – so you’ll immediately recall Shalimar’s past. As reference points, I think Shalimar Legere (2003) (lemons) and Shalimar Philtre de Parfum (2020) (almond) are close to the new release. As for L’Essence, in my opinion, its jasmine doesn’t replicate the company’s “jasmine” perfumes released in recent years, which is fortunate. It’s comfortable to sleep in and be worry free – just like when you were a child.

Это – просто, но так уютно и симпатично, что и спать в аромате легко, и бодрствовать. В базе – игрушечные пачули, вишневый компот и каркаде. Мой образец опустошен.

P.S. сделала себе заметку сравнить розу из новой лимитки с той, которую парфюмеры воссоздали в туалетной воде Mitsouko (2021) из Les Légendaires Guerlain Collection – но когда успеть все? Всем – приятного знакомства, друзья, – и просто приятного вечера.

A bit of honey

In my view, the new limited edition La Petite Robe Noire Honey Rose (2025) should be considered in the following pleasant company: Idylle (2009) Extract, Aqua Allegoria Rosa Rossa (2018), Aqua Allegoria Forte Rosa Rossa (2022) by Guerlain. Although, no, the picture also misses Rosa Rossa Harvest (2023) and, more importantly, French Kiss (2014). I suppose you understand. The combination of rose, sweet cherry, and slightly overripe cherries in butter cream will delight you even more, if you, like me, haven’t yet had the opportunity to get your hands on a boutique bottle of Oud Nude (2022). For those in need in places far from Paris, the company has released the very essence of the listed perfumes, adding the scent of floral, slightly bitter honey and mineral musk from famous and long-discontinued Idylle extract. The composition is simple, yet so cozy and lovely that it’s easy both to sleep and stay awake in it. The base notes are toy patchouli, cherry compote, and hibiscus. My sample is empty.

P.S. I made a note to compare the rose from the new limited edition with the one the perfumers created in the Mitsouko Eau de Toilette (2021) from the Les Légendaires Guerlain Collection – but how long will it take to get everything? Have a nice meeting, friends, and a nice evening as well.

Познакомившись с изданным в прошлом году L’Homme Idéal Parfum by Guerlain, я почувствовала, что надо бы обновить впечатления и о парфюме другого бренда – Pink Boa (2022) by Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777. И именно в переключении от одного к другому становилось ясно, насколько оба этих аромата кокетливы. Pink Boa, конечно же, больше, – в нем есть раскованность и следование модным и спорным трендам (взять хотя бы запах лосося, к которому в духах, как мне кажется, готовы подступиться далеко не все). Pink Boa предлагает много оттенков розового, и при этом адресован все же взрослой аудитории обоих полов. Несмотря на актуальную ягодность (малина, затем – клюква), парфюм одновременно притягательный и страшный. Ни красивый абстрактный цветок в средних “нотах”, ни вкусный абрикосовый компот в базе не отменят его скрытого драконьего характера. Здесь – сочетание змеиной, плюс, какой-то даже птичьей – и привычной галантерейной кожи.

L’Homme Idéal Parfum скрывает ту же кожу. Не факт, что все три ее составляющие, либо же, взятые в той же пропорции. Но в целом, тут для меня – их общее место. А также, – в ягодном декоре. Герлен, правда, добавили хорошо проработанные брендом вишни и черешни. В-третьих, их роднит алкоголь. Ликер (а в Pink Boa – водка) и некая симпатичная прозрачность от бокала или рюмки, что балансирует в целом и сладкую ягодность, и ощутимые вкусные специи (здесь – кардамон).

Смело могу рекомендовать знакомство с ними обоими (хоть параллельно, а хоть и вне связи друг с другом), если вы готовы пуститься во все тяжкие хорошо отрежиссированного фильма.

P.S. Кроме отодвинутого на второй план, но все же ощутимого печенья из вышедшего в тот же период Habit Rouge Parfum в L’Homme Idéal Parfum есть еще интересная пропитка белым кремом. Этот крем вместе с вишневым кардамоном сопровождают раскрытие галантерейной кожи. И позже появится аромат сухого дерева. Настолько сухого, что правильнее, наверное, будет сказать, пенька.

Non-obvious connections

When I got acquainted with L’Homme Idéal Parfum by Guerlain released last year, I felt that I should compare it to another brand’s perfume – Pink Boa (2022) by Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777. In switching from one to the other it became clear how flirtatious both of these fragrances are. Pink Boa, of course, is more unique: it has a lot of relaxedness and follows fashionable and controversial trends (take at least the smell of salmon, to which, in my view, not all are ready in perfumes). It offers many shades of pink, and yet is addressed to an adult audience of both sexes. Despite the actual berry (raspberry, then cranberry), the perfume is simultaneously attractive and scary. Neither the beautiful abstract flower in the middle “notes” nor the delicious apricot compote in the base will cancel out its hidden dragon character. Here is a combination of snake, plus some even bird – and the usual haberdashery leather.

L’Homme Idéal Parfum hides the same “skin”. It is not a fact that all three of its components, or taken in the same proportion. But overall, for me, here is their common place. As well, I can see the intersections in the berry decor. Guerlain, however, added cherries and sweet cherries, well-developed by the brand. And thirdly, they are related by alcohol. Liqueur (and in Pink Boa – vodka) and some nice transparency from a glass or shot glass, which generally balances both the sweet berry and noticeable tasty spices (in this one – cardamom).

I can recommend meeting them both (in parallel, and even independently of each other), if you are ready to walk on the wild side.

P.S. In addition to the hidden but still noticeable biscuit note from Habit Rouge Parfum, released in the same period, there is also an interesting soaking with white cream in L’Homme Idéal Parfum. This cream, together with cherry cardamom, accompany the unfolding of haberdashery leather. And later, the scent of dry wood will appear. So dry that it would probably be more correct to say stump.

Тональность урожайной версии, однако, выше, а характер светлее. Мандариновый и грушевый соки текут по легчайшей поверхности безе, а оттеняет великолепие листик базилика.

Мало того, из версии Forte сюда перескочили сахарные драже, добавляя и вкус, и цвет (белый). С первых и до последних минут аромат напоминает радостное ощущение от раннего утра в доме, белых занавесок на кухне и льющегося из окна света. Вот с этим мягким обволакивающим потоком и смешиваются в парфюме воздушные цитрусовые и зеленые “ноты”, аромат чая и запах пророщенных зерен. Это красиво и продумано. Гедонизм и праздник урожая.

On the light side of the kitchen

Limited Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic Harvest (2023) by Guerlain opens with a refreshing aroma of green tea and soft tangerine peel, but quickly makes it clear that it is, along with its brother Aqua Allegoria Forte Mandarine Basilic born a year earlier, a gourmet perfume. The tone of the harvest version, however, is higher, and the character is lighter. Tangerine and pear juices flow over the lightest surface of the meringue, and a basil leaf sets off the magnificence.

Moreover, sugar dragees have jumped here from the Forte version, adding both taste and color (white). From the first to the last minutes, the scent resembles the joyful feeling of an early morning at home, white curtains in the kitchen and the light pouring in from the window. It is with this soft enveloping flow that airy citrus and green “notes”, the aroma of tea and the smell of sprouted grains are mixed in the perfume. It’s beautiful and thoughtful. Hedonism and harvest festival.

С Shalimar Millésime Jasmin (2024) by Guerlain знакомлюсь под настроение и делать выводы не тороплюсь. Но что здесь кажется удачным безоговорочно – это огромные белые колокольчики с пронзительным духом жасмина Grandiflorum. Свежий “зеленый” аромат с легким банановым оттенком, которым можно восхищаться не уставая в течение многих часов. В отличие от не менее труднодоступного (и к тому же страшно дорогого) братика из бутиковой коллекции Jasmin Grandiflorum Extrait 30 (2023) by Guerlain, буйство жасмина здесь оттенено нежностью иланга, заимствованного будто из самой изначальной Liu (1929) by Guerlain, – и его более тропической версией из Terracotta Voile d’Été (1999) Жан-Поля Герлена и Матильды Лоран. Но цветы здесь, разумеется, не обособлены.

Among the flowers

I didn’t want to rush the meeting with Shalimar Millésime Jasmin (2024) by Guerlain and even more – to jump to conclusions. But what seems here to be successful unconditionally is the huge white bells with the piercing spirit of Grandiflorum jasmine. A fresh “green” scent with a light banana hue that you can admire tirelessly for many hours. Unlike its equally hard-to-find (and also terribly expensive) brother from the boutique Guerlain’s collection Jasmin Grandiflorum Extrait 30 (2023), the riot of jasmine here is shaded by the tenderness of ylang, borrowed as if from the very original Liu (1929) by Guerlain, and its more tropical version from Terracotta Voile d’Été (1999) by Jean-Paul Guerlain и Mathilde Laurent. But, of course, the flowers are not the only characters in the story.

Being the highlight of the Shalimar base that the company’s perfumers have been showing us in the Millésime editions of recent years, they are also surrounded by those pink and even cranberry shades of light that can be seen in the reissued L’Initial (2021) by Thierry Wasser. Shining light and a contrasting tarry scent of abstract leather/suede, serving as a kind of bridge between “heaven” and “earth”, as well as between the past and the future. Suede, satin and a basket with jasmine petals, decorated with flashbacks of Liu – this is the picture Shalimar Millésime Jasmin drew today.

Or des Indes (1988) by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier и Habit Rouge Parfum (2024) by Guerlain. Несмотря на красный цвет картонок образцов, ароматы по ощущению не красные. А похожи они только тем, что оба – про странствия: в одном – рассказ о разбойниках и подготовке к путешествиям (запасаются печеньем, табаком и ромом), а в другом – о пребывании на дальнем острове и раскуривании ладана. Habit Rouge Parfum раскрывает современный вариант кожи, дегтя, дыма, специй и красивой не кондитерской ванили, и аромат печенья позже начинает здорово работать на плоскость “дальней земли”, горячего песка, над которым клубится пар, – примерно как в Oud Extrait (2018) by MFK, о котором писала ранее. Амбра же принимает участие в образах давно не принимавших душ странников и их видавших виды одежд. Тогда как Or des Indes показывает красивый закат, великолепные пейзажы в мягком свете и совершенно беспардонный, черноночной жасмин. Ладан в нем – и тот цветочный.

Оба парфюма, из 1988 и 2024 – актуальны и увлекательны.

In the islands

Or des Indes (1988) by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier and Habit Rouge Parfum (2024) by Guerlain. Despite the red color of the sample boxes, the fragrances have not been felt red. However, there is a common component in their compositions, and this is geranium. Surprisingly, but unconsciously, having turned to a fairly large and varied assortment of warming gourmands, I somehow chose these beauties one after another. And they are similar only in that both are about journeys: one is a story about robbers and preparation for travel (stocking up on cookies, tobacco and rum), another is about being on a distant island and burning incense. Habit Rouge Parfum reveals a modern version of leather, tar, smoke, spices and beautiful non-confectionery vanilla, and later the scent of cookies begins to create an image of the “distant land” and hot sand, over which steam is blowing – much like in Oud Extrait de Parfum (2018) by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, which I wrote about earlier. Ambergris takes part in the images of travelers who have not showered for a long time and their shabby clothes. While Or des Indes shows a beautiful sunset, magnificent landscapes in soft light and completely shameless, black-night jasmine. Incense in it is also floral friendly.

Both perfumes, from 1988 and 2024, are relevant and exciting.

И вот к чему поиск привел.

Приложившись к крышечке бутылки Shalimar Philtre de Parfum (2020) by Guerlain, я почуяла оочень гурманский миндаль – сладкий и молочный. А вдруг, именно этот аромат сможет заменить сегодня Oud Nude? И да, был получен интересный опыт: сахарный, светлый и даже с орешками сандал и пачули. Собственно шалимарная травная часть лишь присутствовала, не доминировала. А позже появились ваниль с мускусами и амбра в “шерсти”, – не животной, скорее, галантерейной. Страшный Шалимар воссоздали идейно, а не композиционно.

Было это не самой холодной осенью. А зимой Philtre de Parfum свое гурманство зажимает и становится строгим и даже безжалостным. Травы и бергамот берут свое, животина тоже выходит наружу сразу. И все попытки замены Oud Nude или просто наслаждения ванильной “няшкой” проваливаются. Можно носить и бояться – или ждать новой золотой осени. Но если повезет, и зимой, в заключительной главе своей, покажет Philtre корешковый ирис, помаду и румяна.

Its name is Philtre

There was a day when my soul was restless and I wanted to smell something delicious, but not just sweetness, any kind – it must be anything in particular, and yet not fully understood. My hand reached for the sample with Oud Nude (2022) by Guerlain, but an inner voice said that this potion from the boutique collection is practically unavailable in large quantities, so perhaps the pleasure should be postponed and for now I need to look for something pleasant among the things in the bottles at home. And this is what the search led to.

Approaching the cap of the bottle of Shalimar Philtre de Parfum (2020) by Guerlain, I smelled a very gourmet almond – sweet and milky. What if this fragrance can replace Oud Nude today? And yes, an interesting experience was obtained: sugary, light and even nutty sandalwood and patchouli. Actually, the herbal part of Shalimar was only present, it did not dominate. And later vanilla with musks and amber in “wool” appeared – not animal, rather haberdashery. The “terrible” Shalimar was recreated ideologically, not compositionally.

It was not the coldest autumn. In winter, Philtre de Parfum is moderate in gourmet pleasures and becomes strict and even merciless. Herbs and bergamot take their own, the animal also comes out immediately. And all attempts to replace Oud Nude or simply enjoy the “cute” vanilla fail. You can wear it – and might feel afraid. Or wait for a new golden autumn. But if you are lucky, even in winter, in its final chapter, Philtre will show root iris, lipstick and blush.

Вот такую зарисовку, как мне кажется, хотели передать в Герлен: трапезу в ресторанчике у моря с красивыми покрытиями дерева. Да, со странными, но такими актуальными сейчас минеральными тонами. Возможно, с маленькими каменными статуями драконов там и тут. Не совсем то, что любители классических герленовских духов ожидают от компании, но в стилистике двух других новых осенних ароматов серии.

Japanese food

The day I met the new Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Forte Oud Yuzu, it seemed to me that it settled somewhere between created in 2013 Barkhane by Teo Cabanel and Cuir Garamante by MDCI Parfums, as well as more recent Mon Seul Désir (2017) by Jul et Mad and even Tabac Noir (2019) by Caron. Warm, spicy, oily wood with vetiver and cannabis at the bottom – and a citrusy top. The key difference, in my opinion, is which serpent-dragon releases the venom as the plot unfolds.

In Aqua Allegoria Forte Oud Yuzu, the dragon is cartoonishly modern — and a lover of Japanese restaurants. Starting with the scent of mandarin-lemon hybrid, common in Southeast Asia, yuzu, and finishing with hooligan additives to the composition of the smells of rice and fish.
