Новое лимитированное издание La Petite Robe Noire Honey Rose (2025), как мне кажется, стоит рассмотреть вот в такой приятной компании: Idylle (2009) Extract, Aqua Allegoria Rosa Rossa (2018), Aqua Allegoria Forte Rosa Rossa (2022) by Guerlain. Хотя, нет, на снимке не хватает ещё Rosa Rossa Harvest (2023) и, что ещё важнее, French Kiss (2014). Предполагаю, вы понимаете. Это – просто, но так уютно и симпатично, что и спать в аромате легко, и бодрствовать. В базе – игрушечные пачули, вишневый компот и каркаде. Мой образец опустошен.

P.S. сделала себе заметку сравнить розу из новой лимитки с той, которую парфюмеры воссоздали в туалетной воде Mitsouko (2021) из Les Légendaires Guerlain Collection – но когда успеть все? Всем – приятного знакомства, друзья, – и просто приятного вечера.

A bit of honey

In my view, the new limited edition La Petite Robe Noire Honey Rose (2025) should be considered in the following pleasant company: Idylle (2009) Extract, Aqua Allegoria Rosa Rossa (2018), Aqua Allegoria Forte Rosa Rossa (2022) by Guerlain. Although, no, the picture also misses Rosa Rossa Harvest (2023) and, more importantly, French Kiss (2014). I suppose you understand. The combination of rose, sweet cherry, and slightly overripe cherries in butter cream will delight you even more, if you, like me, haven’t yet had the opportunity to get your hands on a boutique bottle of Oud Nude (2022). For those in need in places far from Paris, the company has released the very essence of the listed perfumes, adding the scent of floral, slightly bitter honey and mineral musk from famous and long-discontinued Idylle extract. The composition is simple, yet so cozy and lovely that it’s easy both to sleep and stay awake in it. The base notes are toy patchouli, cherry compote, and hibiscus. My sample is empty.

P.S. I made a note to compare the rose from the new limited edition with the one the perfumers created in the Mitsouko Eau de Toilette (2021) from the Les Légendaires Guerlain Collection – but how long will it take to get everything? Have a nice meeting, friends, and a nice evening as well.

Что радовало в летние месяцы ранее и создавалось для подобных случаев. И вспоминаешь ароматы востока. Парфюмерные произведения, требующие зноя и горячей кожи. Если готовы понаблюдать, как жара утомит обычно жесткую структуру композиции и усмирит того или иного упрямца. Или, наоборот, расправит крылья чем-то, что себя не выдавало. И вот сегодняшняя героиня моя – Rose de Petra (2013) by Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777.

Мало того, что парфюм адресован подобным томным ситуациям, – мне кажется, доктор прописал бы его и тем, кто истосковался по поездкам. Древний город Петра в Иордании – ну разве не мечта посетить, наконец, именно это место? С трудом, но добраться (скажем, через Египет), послушать в дороге экскурсовода, подышать тамошним воздухом и подойти к высеченным из скалы дивной красоты воротам. Middle East’s attraction

On a day when you can hardly breathe from the heat and don’t want to go anywhere, you learn not only how to cope with such a condition, but also how to decorate your life with something suitable, which you don’t turn to on other days. What used to please you in the summer months and was created for such occasions. And you remember the scents of the East. Perfume works that require heat and hot skin. If you are ready to watch how the heat exhausts the usually rigid structure of the composition and tame this or that stubborn person. Or, on the contrary, something that did not give itself away, finally will spread its wings. And here is my heroine today – Rose de Petra (2013) by Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777.

Not only is the perfume addressed to such languid situations – it seems to me that the doctor would also prescribe it to those who are yearning for travel. The ancient city of Petra in Jordan – isn’t it a dream to visit this place after all? With difficulty, but get there (say, via Egypt), listen to the guide on the way, breathe in the local air and approach the gates of wondrous beauty carved out of the rock. Selecting words to describe the shade of the stone and express emotions from contact with the legend.

Rose de Petra also absorbed the riches of the East. Pomegranate juice and lychee enhance and beautify its delicate floral heart. In winter, this juice will not flow so abundantly into your glass. And the rose will be lonely and cold. But now you can literally drink it, marveling at the combination of sweetness and tartness. And the spices (pepper, cinnamon, cardamom and cumin) seem to emphasize its fruity and berry character even more. Then your nose picks up the white dust of vanilla, which was present in the materials of those years, and rejoices in recognition. Together with light intelligent patchouli, this white dust serves as a connecting link between the joyful, bright beginning of the story and its dark, mysterious end. However, light, silky and yet dusty vetiver keeps them company and reminds of the desert.

С Shalimar Millésime Jasmin (2024) by Guerlain знакомлюсь под настроение и делать выводы не тороплюсь. Но что здесь кажется удачным безоговорочно – это огромные белые колокольчики с пронзительным духом жасмина Grandiflorum. Свежий “зеленый” аромат с легким банановым оттенком, которым можно восхищаться не уставая в течение многих часов. В отличие от не менее труднодоступного (и к тому же страшно дорогого) братика из бутиковой коллекции Jasmin Grandiflorum Extrait 30 (2023) by Guerlain, буйство жасмина здесь оттенено нежностью иланга, заимствованного будто из самой изначальной Liu (1929) by Guerlain, – и его более тропической версией из Terracotta Voile d’Été (1999) Жан-Поля Герлена и Матильды Лоран. Но цветы здесь, разумеется, не обособлены.

Among the flowers

I didn’t want to rush the meeting with Shalimar Millésime Jasmin (2024) by Guerlain and even more – to jump to conclusions. But what seems here to be successful unconditionally is the huge white bells with the piercing spirit of Grandiflorum jasmine. A fresh “green” scent with a light banana hue that you can admire tirelessly for many hours. Unlike its equally hard-to-find (and also terribly expensive) brother from the boutique Guerlain’s collection Jasmin Grandiflorum Extrait 30 (2023), the riot of jasmine here is shaded by the tenderness of ylang, borrowed as if from the very original Liu (1929) by Guerlain, and its more tropical version from Terracotta Voile d’Été (1999) by Jean-Paul Guerlain и Mathilde Laurent. But, of course, the flowers are not the only characters in the story.

Being the highlight of the Shalimar base that the company’s perfumers have been showing us in the Millésime editions of recent years, they are also surrounded by those pink and even cranberry shades of light that can be seen in the reissued L’Initial (2021) by Thierry Wasser. Shining light and a contrasting tarry scent of abstract leather/suede, serving as a kind of bridge between “heaven” and “earth”, as well as between the past and the future. Suede, satin and a basket with jasmine petals, decorated with flashbacks of Liu – this is the picture Shalimar Millésime Jasmin drew today.

С момента появления прекрасной волшебницы-зари тополи начали благоухать, ручьи принялись громче журчать, деревья радостно затрепетали и залепетали своими листьями, а травы и цветы начали понемногу развертывать богатство своих красок” (Гл. XIV).

И все же, им можно проиллюстрировать раскрытие парфюма Chanel Gabrielle Essence (2019), – особенно сейчас, в студеную зимнюю пору.

В версии Essence (хотя и изначальная Gabrielle выделялась изысканной гладкостью) все отполировали пуще прежнего. Более нежного, ласкового и любящего аромата, пожалуй, найти не удастся. Парфюмер Оливье Польж выбрал для своей волшебницы-зари самые красивые и теплые розовые оттенки. Цитрусовые, ягоды, белые цветы в каплях кокосового сока и ванили создают пасторальную картинку, милую сердцу иллюстрацию, к которой приятно в течение дня время от времени обращаться. Золотистые кудри зари Сервантеса Оливье Польжем эффектно выпрямлены: солнечный свет здесь мягкий, утренний, осенний и всячески благоприятный. Нос выхватывает и струйку свежести гедиона, – но ее тут немного, так что не успеваешь ни замерзнуть, ни соскучиться. И если что и разворачивает свои краски поярче – так это душистый горошек, и кто его искал, грустил, но по каким-то причинам не решался заказать новый выпуск одноименных духов старинной марки Caron, найдет его здесь в самом лучшем, идиллическом виде.

Manna from heaven

A false poetic passage describing a picture of nature from the second volume of “Don Quixote” by Miguel de Cervantes looks funny, but questionably in terms of its realism:

“And now gay-plumaged birds of all sorts began to warble in the trees, and with their varied and gladsome notes seemed to welcome and salute the fresh morn that was beginning to show the beauty of her countenance at the gates and balconies of the east, shaking from her locks a profusion of liquid pearls; in which dulcet moisture bathed, the plants, too, seemed to shed and shower down a pearly spray, the willows distilled sweet manna, the fountains laughed, the brooks babbled, the woods rejoiced, and the meadows arrayed themselves in all their glory at her coming” (Chapter XIV).

And at the same time, it can illustrate the unfolding of the Chanel perfume Gabrielle Essence (2019), – especially now, in the cold winter season.

In the Essence version (although the original Gabrielle stood out for its exquisite smoothness) everything was polished even more than before. You will probably not be able to find more gentle and loving scent than this one. Perfumer Olivier Polge chose for his magical dawn the most beautiful and warm pink shades. Citrus fruits, berries, white flowers in drops of coconut juice and vanilla create a pastoral picture, dear to the heart illustration, which is pleasant to look at from time to time. Golden curls of the dawn by Miguel de Cervantes were glamorous straightened here: the sunlight is soft, morning, autumn and in every way favorable. The nose snatches a trickle of the freshness of hedione – but it doesn’t lost long, so you can’t get cold or bored. And if anything reveals its colors brighter, it’s sweet peas, and whoever was looking for it, missed it, but for some reason did not dare to order a new issue of the perfume of the same name from the ancient brand Caron, you will find it here in its best, idyllic form.

Попыталась вернуться к странной “огуречной” Rose Croquante (2022) by Caron в прохладную уже октябрьскую погоду. А задумывался парфюм, согласно официальному описанию, как обонятельный образ теплицы во время полива. Ну не знаю.

Нежная роза и правда парит над всем растущим многообразием. Теплая и слегка фруктовая, в танце с персиком и лепестками жасмина самбак. Однако глаз пытается вычленить все же не капельки влаги на зеленых стеблях, а упаковку с удобрениями и химикатами, так как что-то современное и технологическое сопровождает, охватывает и оставляет послевкусие.

А еще есть ощущение, что кедр, измельченный в труху, добавленный ко всему перечисленному выше, дает запах ила. Аромат, таким образом, если и свежий (местами) и влажный, совершенно точно не городской. Хочется дописать про тренды, лабораторию Caron и происки хитрых маркетологов, но предполагаю, что надо, наверное, дать еще один шанс этому странному парфюму: в другое время, в иной местности, при других обстоятельствах.

As fresh as a daisy

I tried to return to the strange “cucumber” Rose Croquante (2022) perfume by Caron in the cool October weather. And this perfume work, according to the official description, was conceived as an olfactory image of a greenhouse during watering. Well, I’m not sure enough: it is not visible yet.

The delicate rose truly floats above all the growing diversity. Warm and slightly fruity, dancing with peach and jasmine sambac petals. However, the eye is still trying to find not droplets of moisture on green stems, but packaging with fertilizers and chemicals, since something modern and technological accompanies, covers and leaves an aftertaste.

There is also a feeling that cedar, crushed into dust and added to all the above, gives the smell of silt. The perfume, therefore, being somewhere fresh and moist, is still not urban. I’d like to write about trends and the tricks of cunning marketers, but it seems that we should probably give this strange perfume another chance: at a different time, in another area, under other circumstances.

Сложный, полнотелый, развивающийся во времени, с классической структурой парфюм о жизни белых цветов, – с оглядкой на современные тенденции. Открываясь брызгами цитрусовых и ароматом бананового наполнителя десертов (даже, пожалуй, жевательной резинки из 90х), он заигрывает сразу со всеми, кокетничая, строя из себя девицу. Не поддавайтесь на провокации – и ждите.

Уже скоро духи, посвященные Африке и цветам красного дерева, раскроют нежную гардению с почти кофейным кремом, засахаренные розовые лепестки, чуть более темную магнолию и сладкую, напоминающую не менее “африканскую” манную кашу из жасмина, приготовленную Франсисом Кюркджяном в его Manakara для Indult (2006). С яркими неоновыми бабочками. В этом залипательном медовом чаду Belle de Niassa выглядит преемственницей сразу двух ароматов Ришара Фрейсса: Accord 119 (2011) и My Ylang (2013).

Но в игру вступают и современная, с оттенком печи, ваниль, абстрактная животная и леденцовая части, и даже призрак еще одного аромата Ришара Фрейсса Tubereuse (2003) c его начинающими увядание лианами. Иланг при этом демонстрирует то необычный кофейный  – то песочный бока. И вот тут, в финале истории, появляются интересные, незнакомые, новые для марки цветы, аромат которых напоминает мак (насколько его можно было бы представить) и тюльпан. Плюс, теперь уже туберозный крем, банановый жасмин и сочная дыня. При этом нос собирает все это богатство и в общую картинку. Как неоновые лампочки освещают поляну для отдыха, куда уже принесли подносы с экзотическими десертами и фруктами.

Red poppies are blooming there

The novelty of Caron and new in-house perfumer Jean Jacques Belle de Niassa, resting off the road, finally seems to be a truly Caron floral decoration, which makes me very excited. Complex, full-bodied, evolving over time, with a classic structure, a perfume about the life of white flowers, with an eye to modern trends. Opening with splashes of citrus fruits and the aroma of banana filling desserts (even, perhaps, chewing gum from the 90s), it flirts with everyone at once, pretending to be a girl. Do not respond to provocation, keep calm.

Soon, the perfume dedicated to Africa and mahogany flowers will reveal delicate gardenia with almost coffee cream, candied rose petals, slightly darker magnolia and sweet, no less “African” jasmine semolina than the one Francis Kurkdjian cooked in his Manakara for Indult (2006). With bright neon butterflies. In this sticky honey haze, Belle de Niassa feels like the succession of two Richard Fraysse fragrances at once: Accord 119 (2011) and My Ylang (2013).

But modern, with a touch of oven scent, vanilla, abstract animal and candy parts, and even a ghost of another fragrance by Richard Fraysse Tubereuse (2003) with its creepers beginning to wither come into play. At the same time, ylang demonstrates either an unusual coffee or a sandy side. And here, at the end of the story, interesting, unfamiliar, new for the brand flowers appear, the aroma of which resembles a poppy (as far as one could imagine) and a tulip. Plus, now we can get tuberose cream, banana jasmine and juicy melon. The nose, however, collects all this wealth in the big picture. How neon lights illuminate the clearing for relaxation, where trays with exotic fruits and desserts have already been brought.

Возвращаясь к новой лимитированной Aqua Allegoria Rosa Rossa Harvest (2023) by Guerlain – аромат может раскрыться очаровательным натюрмортом. Стаканчик с морсом из черной смородины с дольками лимона и апельсина, множество бархатных розовых лепестков, сахарница, нежный дневной свет, кончики стеблей. А не принять ли со всеми этими чудесными лепестками ванну? Интересно, как выглядит личи? Где-то такие мысли приходят, вдыхая аромат туалетной воды.

Тема – не новая, но понятная и любимая. Эту розную росу можно было видеть, к примеру, в Rose Muskissime (1988) by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier. У Герлен чуть больше контраста между капельной и “ледяной” формой влаги, розой – облаком и розой – вареньем. Подобные акценты прохладных капель на цветке показывал еще Франсис Кюркджян в Rose de Siwa (2006) by MDCI Parfums, где роза соединена с яблоком и личи. И все же, Rosa Rossa Harvest – из них самая, на мой взгляд, странная. В летнюю пасторальную картинку вдруг врываются снег и “минералы” (какой, однако, вызов). В этой связи я даже нанесла для сравнения аромат, посвященный Гималаям, Stairway to Heaven (2019) by Jul et Mad: удивительно, но даже этот гурманский альдегидный мускусный и ладанный парфюм авторства Сесиль Зарокян звучит мягче. Летняя ли Rosa Rossa Harvest на самом деле? Осталось подождать смены сезонов, чтобы разобраться.

Harvest happens from dew

Returning to the new limited Aqua Allegoria Rosa Rossa Harvest (2023) by Guerlain, the fragrance can reveal itself as a charming still life. A glass of blackcurrant juice with lemon and orange slices, many velvety rose petals, a sugar bowl, gentle daylight, stem tips. Why not take a bath with all these wonderful petals? I wonder what a lychee looks like. Such thoughts come, inhaling the scent of this eau de toilette.

The theme is not new, but beloved and understandable. The same rose dew can be seen, for example, in Rose Muskissime (1988) by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier. Guerlain offers a little more contrast between the drip and “ice” form of moisture, the rose – a cloud and the rose – a jam. Similar accents of cool drops on the flower were shown by Francis Kurkdjian in Rose de Siwa (2006) by MDCI Parfums, where the rose was combined with apple and lychee. And yet, in my opinion, Rosa Rossa Harvest is the strangest of them. Snow and “minerals” suddenly break into the summer pastoral picture (what a challenge). In this regard, I even applied the fragrance dedicated to the Himalayas, Stairway to Heaven (2019) by Jul et Mad, for comparison: surprisingly, even this gourmand aldehyde musky and incense perfume by Cécile Zarokian sounds softer. Is Rosa Rossa Harvest really a summer fragrance? It remains to wait for the change of the seasons to figure this out.

Tubéreuse (1988) by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier будто бы создана для этих целей: композиция держится на контрасте сливочной, кокосовой мякоти туберозы и свежего растительного мускуса. В окружении зелени, розовой воды, терпкости жасмина и едва уловимого печенья и проходит наш день. В базе они близки, на мой взгляд, с ее сестрицей Rose Muskissime того же года создания – но если с Розой мы отправляемся в Марокко, то Тубероза зовет куда-то западнее, на молодежные курорты с дискотеками и свободными нравами.

Further to the west

It’s only the end of April, but ads for seductive silk vacation dresses have begun to appear on Instagram, and I’m surprised to find that I chose the perfume of the day in approximately the same way. Tubéreuse (1988) by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier seems to be created for this purpose: the composition rests on the contrast of creamy, coconut pulp of tuberose and fresh vegetable musk. Our day is spent surrounded by greenery, rose water, tartness of jasmine and barely perceptible cookies. In the base, they are close, in my opinion, with her sister Rose Muskissime of the same year of creation – but if we go to Morocco with Rose, then Tuberose calls somewhere to the west, to youth resorts with discos and free morals.

Iris Shot для Olfactive Studio – работа Доминика Ропийона во всех смыслах крепкая. Что видно на фото-брифе – то и чувствуется в аромате: король – цветочек ирис на фоне темноты цвета хаки с четко очерченным гордым и красивым стеблем. Основательно и неторопливо парфюм раскрывает подробности его структуры, сухо и пряно, подслащено и припудрено. И все это великолепие неизбежно обрастает корнями и сливается с почвой, плотной и жадной на какие-либо эмоции. Нет-нет, и приходит мысль о том, что душа хотела бы в рай – да грехи не пускают. Ольфакторный покер фейс для не совсем понятных (особых?) случаев.

В Украине парфюма нет, – такое ощущение, что и не связано это с текущей ситуацией, – но понять бренд-менеджера или “байера” компании-поставщика можно: аромат не так старомоден, как – на любителя и даже, пожалуй, “вещь в себе”. Никто ведь не мог запланировать, что большая часть людей проведет это время дома, получая сообщения о воздушной тревоге, когда стабильные, понятные конструкции актуальны и желательны. В базе Iris Shot, кстати, есть и немного алкоголя для успокоения. Друзья, кому доступны европейские магазины – парфюм издан и в приятном для знакомства формате 15 мл.

In the field of darkness

Iris Shot by Olfactive Studio, the work of Dominique Ropion, is in every way strong. What is seen in the photo brief is what is felt in the fragrance: the king iris flower against a dark khaki background with a clearly defined, proud and beautiful stem. Thoroughly and slowly, the perfume reveals the details of its structure, dry and spicy, powdered and sweetened. And all this splendor inevitably grows roots and merges with the soil, dense and greedy for any emotions. And the thought comes to mind that the soul would like to fly, but it’s beyond our power. Olfactory poker face – for a special occasion.

This perfume is not for sale in Ukraine – and it seems that this is not related to the current situation – but you can understand the brand manager or “buyer” of the supplier company: the fragrance is not so old-fashioned, as, apparently, specific and even “thing in itself”. No one could have planned that most people would spend this time at home receiving air raid alerts when stable, understandable designs are relevant and desirable. In the base of Iris Shot, by the way, there is also a little alcohol to calm down. Friends who have access to European stores – the perfume was also issued in 15 ml format that is pleasant for exploring.

Сделав попытку понять, где находится ближайшее к Rose Ivoire de Caron (2019) воплощение розы, я нанесла Rose de Mai by Perris Monte Carlo. И – нет, эта изящная розочка вполне весома и насыщенна. Rose Ivoire – скорее, о розовом свете, вплетенном в изумрудное облако орриса, перца и крахмалистой амбретты. Весна и лето – самое время эту свежую, лимонную и в то же время сладкую и фруктовую розу все-таки услышать.

Бежевый каркас Rose Ivoire звенит чем-то гвоздичным и табачным, передает ореховый и молочный оттенки. Красиво встречается с розой в духе ароматов начала нулевых, показывая карамельный и кокосовый нюанс. И если вы любите Chanel no 19 в духах, какими они были лет 10-15 назад, – познакомьтесь с Rose Ivoire, у них есть точки пересечения.

In the daylight

After trying to figure out where the closest to Rose Ivoire de Caron (2019) incarnation of rose is, I put on my wrist Rose de Mai by Perris Monte Carlo. And – no, this graceful rose is quite weighty and rich. Rose Ivoire is more about pink light woven into an emerald cloud of orris, pepper and starchy ambrette.
