It opens with that characteristically cool, damp air, the scent of freshly cut stems, the sweetness of rosebuds, and the buttery richness of gardenia with its velvety dark-green leaves. A sharp, daring coolness contrasts with a calm, lipsticky texture and a dense, creamy richness. This fragrance will only captivate you if you truly love flowers — after all, it is fascinating to observe how master perfumer Jean-Michel Duriez has recreated them.

He wove them meticulously, without theatricality. A pink, almost crimson rose wrapped in a musky mist briefly appears white before reclaiming its pink hue and taking on an apricot scent. The creamy gardenia hints at faint, subtle nuances of cheese. The surrounding greenery holds its ground without stealing the spotlight. Soon, however, the flower shop gives way to a greenhouse as the “botanical leather” accord — the signature element running through the entire Carlotha Ray fragrance line — comes into play. At this stage, the perfume warms up and becomes more tropical, filled with the damp breath of earth, moss, and decaying leaves.
